    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation and operating instructions for the Powermid PM5900 Set — Transmitter (Model ST539) and Receiver (Model RE549) — sold by X10 Wireless Technology, Inc. This whole-house IR extender lets your existing remote controls operate a TV, VCR, stereo, or other IR-controlled equipment in a different room, or through walls, without running any wires.

    Overview

The Powermid Transmitter receives infrared (IR) signals from your existing remote control and converts them to radio frequency (RF) signals. These RF signals travel through walls and ceilings to the Powermid Receiver, which converts them back into IR signals to control your TV, VCR, stereo, or other equipment.

    Installation

    1. Plug the Powermid Transmitter (Model ST539) into a 120V AC outlet in the room where you want to use your remote control — up to 20 feet from where you normally sit. Make sure the front of the unit (with the Powermid name on it) faces you.
    2. Plug the Powermid Receiver (Model RE549) into a 120V AC outlet in the room where your TV, VCR, stereo, etc. is located — up to 20 feet from the equipment. Point the front of the Receiver toward the unit you want to control and fully extend the antenna.
    3. Point your existing remote control at the Powermid Transmitter and press any button. The Transmitter and Receiver can be in different rooms, up to 100 feet apart.

    Expanding the System

    • Add more Transmitters to use your remotes in additional rooms.
    • Add more Receivers to control equipment in additional rooms.
    • Add an IR Extender, Model RX569 (sold separately), to place the Receiver next to your TV instead of directly in front of it — useful when equipment is inside a closed cabinet.
