    Product specifications and feature overview for the OPTEX WX Shield Series (WXS) — a family of 180° panoramic outdoor motion detectors combining PIR and, on select models, microwave sensing, in a distinctive shield-shaped enclosure.

    Overview

    The WX Shield Series is a comprehensive exterior sensing solution comprised of 4-PIR and 2-PIR/microwave models designed to detect approaching intruders before they reach a protected area. With a wide field of view and adjustable settings, the WXS Series provides an effective new or retrofit perimeter detection solution for residential and commercial security systems.

    Key Features

    • 180° complete coverage with individually adjustable left/right detection area size, sensitivity, and alarm outputs
    • Selectable mounting height: High mount at 2.0 m (6'7") fixes PIR distance at max 9 m (30') to help avoid vandalism/lens masking; Low mount at 0.8–1.2 m (2'7"–4') allows stepless detection distance adjustment from 2.5–12.0 m (8'–40')
    • 4 PIR & 2 Microwave technology (DAM/DRAM models only) — combined PIR + microwave algorithm improves stability against sunlight and light disturbance
    • Panoramic triple-layer detection (DAM/DRAM only) — alarm triggers only when upper and lower PIR sensors plus microwave all detect movement, reducing false alarms
    • Self-learning IR digital anti-masking that automatically calibrates trigger levels for lens-covering objects, compensating for temperature drift
    • Sunlight canceling — automatically adjusts anti-masking trigger level when sunlight is too strong
    • Rainwater & insect canceling — filters out small objects like spiders or rain droplets from triggering trouble signals
    • Screw-free front cover design for faster installation (pull to unlock, remove and replace main unit without tools)
    • Automatic walk test begins automatically when the front cover is closed and ends after 3 minutes
    • Area masking shutter and included masking plates for tailoring the detection zone shape
    • Individual sensitivity setting (High/Medium/Low) selectable separately for left and right zones
    • Cover tamper & back tamper outputs generated when the front cover is opened or the unit is removed from the wall
    • Level indicator built in to ease alignment during installation
    • Optional pole mount (PMP-01) with metal band up to 23 mm (1") wide, for non-wall installations
