Technical specifications for the Optex Virtual Loop 2.0 (Model OVS-02GT) — a vehicle presence sensor for gates and barriers, using Distance Measuring Radar in place of in-ground loops.

    Overview

The Virtual Loop 2.0 reliably detects vehicles of all sizes while ignoring nearly all human movement, eliminating the hassle of installing and servicing in-ground loops. It provides reliable activation and presence detection for gate applications.

    Key Features

    • 26 ft extended detection range
    • No cutting, coring, or drilling of concrete or asphalt required
    • Presence detection for all types of vehicles
    • Can be programmed to ignore or detect humans, depending on the application
    • Settings configured via smartphone app
    • Direct conduit access or direct installation for a single gang box
    • Flexible 12–24V AC/DC power supply
    • 96° wide-angle adjustment (left/right)
    • Improved built-in heater
    • Visible status indicator
    • IP66 & NEMA4 rated water resistance

    Status Indicator Reference

    • Standard operation: Standby = solid green; Detected = solid red; Bad environment = solid purple; Calibration incomplete = solid blue; Wake up = solid blue for 3 seconds; Completed reset = fast blinking blue for 2 seconds.
    • Smartphone App — setting detection: Standby = slow blinking green; Detected = slow blinking yellow; Bad environment = slow blinking purple; Calibration incomplete = slow blinking blue.
    • Smartphone App — area check: Standby = slow blinking green; Pre-detected = slow blinking yellow; Detected = slow blinking red.
    • Calibration: In progress = blinking blue & green; Error unstable = fast blinking red & yellow; Error high reflection = fast blinking red & blue; High reflection = blinking purple for 10 sec.

    Detection Area

Mounted at 20 in (0.5m) installation height, the microwave beam covers a detection area extending to 26 ft (8m) with a typical width around 3m (9.9ft) at close range. Under real-world conditions, the effective detection area for an actual vehicle may be smaller than the theoretical pattern. Reference test conditions: installation height 0.5m (1.6ft), device activation operation type, sensitivity level 4.
