    The Optex OVS-01CC is a 26-foot range microwave vehicle presence sensor with car counting capability, used to detect vehicles at gates, driveways, and traffic lanes. This quick reference guide covers pole placement, wiring, and calibration for a typical installation.

    1. Installation Layout

    • Installation height: 500mm (19.69 in.) from the ground to the bottom of the sensor
    • Installation angle: 90 degrees to the vehicle direction of travel
    • Two-way traffic lanes: install the sensor on the lane of traffic you wish to monitor — the sensor cannot detect a vehicle in the opposite lane

    2. Install, Wire, and Power the Sensor

    1. Make holes to mount the sensor (mounting pitch 32±1mm / 1.26±0.04 in.)
    2. Run a cable through the post or pole
    3. Loosen the retaining screws on the bottom of the front cover, remove the front cover, and detach the sensor unit
    4. Fix the base using 4 screws
    5. Connect wires — Power, Output 1, and Output 2 terminals. Applicable wire: single conductor 0.5-1.2mm (equivalent to CPEV) or stranded wire 0.3-2.0sq
    6. Attach the sensor body to the base and adjust the sensor angle
    7. Put the front cover on top of the base first, then attach it while spreading it open and pushing down
    8. Tighten the front cover retaining screw

    3. Set the Microwave Maximum Range

    It's recommended to set the range 1m (3.28ft) shorter than the actual width of the road, using the Maximum Range buttons (1-8) and the Output1/Output2 N.O./N.C. selector switches.

    4. Calibration

    Perform calibration to memorize the background of the detection area. Ensure no pedestrians or vehicles are present during calibration:

    1. Press the Calibration button
    2. The operation indicator blinks blue
    3. Step away from the sensor and outside the detection area
    4. The green LED lights when calibration completes correctly

    Status indicator states: Standby → Area Check → Detection → Calibration → Calibration Area Check.

    5. System Operation Check

    Check the entire coverage area using an actual vehicle, testing the left side of the lane, the center of the lane, and the right side of the lane.
