    User's Manual (Menu Part) for the Optex InSight Series IP Camera's Video Content Analytics (VCA) features β€” covering detection/output modes, area configuration, advanced rule-based analytics, overlay display, and camera tamper detection.

    1. Detection / Output Modes

    The InSight camera combines PIR (passive infrared) and VCA (video content analytics) detection. Available alarm output rules:

    • PIR and VCA (default) β€” outputs an alarm when both PIR and VCA detect objects within a configurable window time.
    • PIR or VCA β€” outputs an alarm when either PIR or VCA detects objects.
    • PIR β€” outputs an alarm when PIR detects objects only.
    • VCA β€” outputs an alarm when VCA detects objects only.

    Window Time: An alarm is generated when another sensing device detects an object within a window time created by the timing of PIR or VCA detection. This setting applies only when the alarm output rule is set to "PIR and VCA."

    Relay Output: Select either N.O. (normally open) or N.C. (normally closed) for the physical output relay.

    2. Area Configuration

    2.1 Camera Angle Adjustment

    Adjust the detection area angle to match the camera's angle, positioning the detection area correctly. If the vertical angle of the camera is adjusted, matching adjustments must be made to these sections to ensure the best sensor performance.

    2.2 VCA Area Settings

    Detection Rule types:

    • Polygon β€” triggers an event when an object is detected within a defined detection area.
    • Line β€” triggers an event when an object is detected crossing a defined detection line.

    Distance: Adjust the VCA detection area with the slide bar to match the distance area.

    2.3 VCA Sensitivity

    • Sensitivity β€” sets VCA sensitivity. Setting to "Custom" enables detailed settings for Minimum Object Size and Object Tracker Threshold. Note: when the detection rule is "PIR or VCA" or "VCA," configure sensitivity to Middle or Low.
    • Minimum Object Size β€” defines the size of the smallest object considered for tracking.
    • Object Tracker Threshold β€” tunes the object tracker to ignore movement below a certain threshold. Combined with the Blob Map burnt-in annotation (which visualizes the area of the scene where movement is detected), this value can be adjusted to filter out environmental noise.

    3. VCA Advanced Settings (Rules)

    Advanced settings react to events within a scene and trigger actions. Rules are managed from the Rules feature in the VCA menu, which displays a live camera view and lets you add, modify, or delete rules.

    3.1 Show Annotation

    Toggles display of analytic data on the camera view (Start/Stop). Note: the burnt-in annotation feature must be enabled for this to function β€” it doesn't affect analytics processing but requires more camera resources and is not on by default.

    3.2 Types of Rules Available

    • Presence Polygon β€” triggers an event when an object is first detected in a particular detection area.
    • Presence Line β€” triggers an event when an object is first detected crossing a particular line.
    • Non-Detect Zone β€” excludes areas of the scene from analysis, reducing false triggers caused by moving foliage or busy scenes.

    3.3 Managing Rules

    Add a rule: Select Add, choose the rule type, configure it, then Save.

    Modify a rule: Highlight the rule, select Modify, adjust settings, then Save.

    Delete a rule: Highlight the rule, select Delete. Note: rules cannot be deleted if linked to an action or counter β€” remove those links first.

    For Presence Polygon and Presence Line rules, the detection area/line overlays on the live view and can be reshaped β€” select a grey node to split a segment for a more complex shape, or select the minus sign next to a red node to remove a segment. Only the rule Name property is configurable; Event Actions are not supported in this version.

    4. VCA Overlay

    Factory default: VCA Overlay is set to Sub Stream (CHeKT).

    • Activation β€” turns the overlay feature On or Off.
    • Stream β€” choose which stream displays the burnt-in annotation:
      • Main Stream β€” used by NVR, VMS, etc.
      • Sub Stream β€” used by the CHeKT system.
      • 3rd Stream β€” for checking via web browser.

    Overlay Setup options:

    • Display detection area β€” displays the VCA detection area outline on the video feed.
    • Display objects β€” displays object bounding boxes on the video feed.

    5. Camera Scene Change (Tamper Detection)

    Detects camera tampering events such as bagging, defocusing, and moving the camera, by identifying large persistent changes in the image.

    • Enable β€” On enables the tamper feature; Off disables it.
    • Duration β€” length of time (seconds) the image must be persistently changed before the alarm triggers.
    • Area Threshold β€” percentage of the image area that must change for tampering to be triggered.
    • Suppress Alarm on Light β€” On suppresses false tamper events caused by sudden lighting changes (e.g. switching indoor lights on/off); Off disables suppression. Note: this reduces sensitivity to genuine alarms and should be used with caution. Remember to Apply changes for them to take effect.

    6. VCA License

    This menu shows the list of licenses for camera operations. Do not delete any license entries β€” deleting one will prevent the system from working properly.
