Quick installation guide for the OPTEX InSight INS-CUBE visual verification PIR camera, including CHeKT portal registration and full specifications.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation quick guide for the OPTEX InSight INS-CUBE — a visual verification PIR camera that combines passive infrared intrusion detection with an integrated IP camera, registering to the CHeKT video verification platform.

    Overview

The INS-CUBE pairs PIR detection with onboard video capture so that alarm events can be visually verified through the CHeKT monitoring portal. Installation involves mounting the bracket, wiring power/network/alarm connections, configuring the IP address, registering the device to a CHeKT dealer account, and running a walk test.

    Safety Warnings

    • Warning: Failure to follow instructions marked with this indication and improper handling may cause death or serious injury.
    • Caution: Failure to follow instructions marked with this indication and improper handling may cause injury and/or property damage.
    • Avoid detection through glass, and avoid partial or complete obscuration of the detection area.

    Parts Identification

Main unit: Mic, Lens, LED, PIR Sensor, Speaker.
Base unit (rear side): SD Card Slot, LAN Port, 12V DC Port, Alarm Terminal Port, Reset/WPS button, Illumination Sensor.
Accessories included: Mounting bracket, mounting template, mounting screws & plastic anchors (4pcs), DC plug jack, 1 screw.

    Installation Steps

    1. Install the mounting bracket — wall mount (2 mounting screws) or corner mount (mounting template, 4 screws).
    2. Remove the main unit from the base unit — press the buttons on both sides to release.
    3. Install/remove an SD memory card (optional) — remove the accessory screw first if already installed.
    4. Wiring:
      • Power connection — 12V DC (6.4W) or PoE IEEE 802.3af Class 3 (6.8W). Caution: Check voltage and current capacity of the power source before connecting.
      • Network connection — connect a crossover cable into the RJ-45 LAN port.
      • Alarm connection — terminals: +12V (12V DC power), GND (Ground), N.O. (Normally Open), COM (Common), N.C. (Normally Closed), T1/T2 (Tamper switch).
    5. Mount the body — fasten the base unit to the mounting bracket on the wall, then tighten the screw to prevent movement.
    6. Secure the main unit — press the buttons on both sides to install the main unit onto the base, then fasten the accessory screw to secure it.

Note (Factory Reset): Press the reset button for 5 seconds to return to factory defaults. Warning: this erases all setting data — make a note of your configuration first if needed.

    IP Address Settings

The default network type is dynamic (DHCP). If no DHCP server is present, the device sets a static address automatically after one minute — refer to the label on the unit for the initial address. Default login: username root, password OPTEX (change as appropriate). An IP installer utility for locating device addresses is available at www.optexamerica.com.

    CHeKT Portal Registration

    1. Go to http://dealer.chekt.com/ to log in (request a dealer account first via the CHeKT dealer site if you don't have one).
    2. Select the Customer on the left side of the dashboard.
    3. Select the Site Devices tab.
    4. Select the bridge device to be associated with the sensor camera.
    5. Access bridge settings via the gear icon.
    6. Select the appropriate tab to register the PIR camera.
