    Quick installation guide for the OPTEX INS-HX-80N — an InSight Series Visual Verification PIR Camera. This "Quick Guide" covers the core installation steps for installers; the full installation instructions and camera manual are available online at OPTEX's navigation portal.

    Overview

    The InSight HX-80N combines a passive infrared (PIR) detector with an integrated camera for visual verification of alarm events, and is designed for registration with the CHeKT monitoring portal. Full manual: https://navi.optex.net/manual/50427

    Installation Steps

    1. Remove and install the mounting plate using the 2 provided screws. Hook the fall-prevention wire (caution item). To pass cables through the wall, drill a 25mm (1") or larger hole; use a single gang box for exposed wiring.
    2. Connect cables to the device via the 8-pin I/O cable (Pink, Orange, Yellow, Brown, Green, Purple, Black, Red wires) for Tamper Alarm and Power circuits (terminal labels: + − SP N/A COM AL TP TP). Do not connect to the N/A terminal. Also connect the DC power cable (12V DC for camera and PIR — can double as backup power for PoE) and the PoE LAN cable via the waterproof cap.
    3. Secure the main body back onto the mounting plate — take care not to pinch cables during assembly.

    IP Address Settings

    • Default network type is dynamic (DHCP). If no DHCP server is present, a static address is auto-assigned after one minute — check the label on the unit for the initial address.
    • Default username: root; Default password: OPTEX — change the password after initial setup.

    CHeKT Portal Device Registration

    1. Go to dealer.chekt.com to log in (request a dealer account first if you don't have one, via www.chekt.com/registration).
    2. Select the customer, then the Site Devices tab.
    3. Select the bridge device to associate with the sensor camera, and access bridge settings via the gear icon.
    4. Select the appropriate tab to register the PIR camera.

    Camera Angle & PIR Area Settings

    • Horizontal adjustment: ±95°. Remove the back cover, loosen one side, and adjust — only one side needs to be loosened.
    • Vertical (PIR area) adjustment: 0° to -20°. Use only to make the detection area surface parallel to the ground's inclination — do not use for other purposes.
    • Camera angle adjustment: loosen the left or right screw; recommended range 25°–35° (default 30°) — images may appear white/blurred in dark scenes outside this range.
    • DIP switch settings: Switch 1 (Standard/Immunity), Switch 2 (Immunity, future use), Switch 3 (future use), Switch 4 (AND/OR PIR Logic).
    • PIR sensitivity: High (H), Middle (M, default), Low (L).

    Checking / Commissioning

    1. Walk test — check the detection area by walking around it.
    2. System check — verify the captured image at the time of detection via the monitoring portal.

    Factory Reset

    To reset to factory default (e.g. if the password is forgotten): remove the back cover, locate the factory reset switch near the cable, and press for 5 seconds. This resets the IP address, ID, password, and camera settings.

Prior to installation, compliance with local privacy/personal-information laws is the user's responsibility. FCC Class A digital device — designed for commercial environments; may cause interference in residential areas. Open source software components are distributed under GPL/LGPL and other OSS licenses; source code is available upon request for at least 3 years from purchase date.
