    Installation instructions for the OPTEX CDX series indoor PIR/microwave motion detectors — Grade 3 security detectors with wide-area (15m x 15m) or long-range (24m x 2m) down-zone coverage, available in three variants: CDX-AM, CDX-NAM, and CDX-DAM.

    Wiring Knockouts

    • Use knockout (1) & (2) for wall mount, or (3) & (4) for corner mount, so the gray section stays in place and triggers the output in a tamper case.
    • Cut out the gray section before installation if mounting on soft material such as plaster board.

    Important Notes

    • UL requires CDX to be connected to a UL-listed control panel or listed burglar alarm power supply, nominal input 12V DC, 26mA max, with battery standby time of 4 hours.
    • CDX shall be installed per the National Electrical Code (NEC 70) and CSA 22-2 Part 1 (Canada).
    • The distance indications for MW/PIR overlap are guides only — do not set the MW sensitivity too low or too high, which may cause an MW failure or false alarm. Set the MW and PIR detection areas to overlap for higher detection performance and to prevent false alarms.
    • CDX series is only a part of a complete system; OPTEX cannot accept full responsibility for damages or consequences resulting from an intrusion.
