OnQ AnyPort Outlet Kits — Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for OnQ AnyPort® Outlet Kits — a modular outlet system with blank inserts, modular jack inserts, "F" feedthru inserts, designer outlets, and decorator outlets that provide flexible video, audio, telephone, and data connectivity at any wall location.

Overview

The AnyPort system lets you build a custom wall outlet from interchangeable inserts and a base outlet plate. Any combination of blank, modular jack, or "F" feedthru inserts can be snapped into a designer or decorator outlet base, giving each room exactly the mix of video, phone, data, and audio connections it needs.

Blank Inserts

Used to fill unused outlet openings. Insert from the rear of the outlet to fill the opening. Inserts used in AnyPort decorator outlets must be rotated 90° for proper insertion.

Modular Jack Inserts

Provide connectivity to telephone and data services. Accept 4-pair twisted-pair cable with 24 AWG solid conductors (maximum conductor insulation diameter 0.050").

Termination

• Strip back only as much cable jacket as necessary — generally a strip length of 2" max. meets most applications
• Keep wire twist to within 0.50" of termination

Setup Steps

1. Snap jack into faceplate opening
2. Place individual twisted pair conductors into corresponding color-coded slots (use minimum slack while maintaining twist within 0.50" of termination); follow the color code on the label
3. Use the OnQ Impact Tool 363293-01 (set to low-impact) to punch wires into slots and cut off excess; remove loose wire pieces
4. Install the dust cap for strain relief

"F" Feedthru Inserts

Provide connectivity to video services.

1. Run cables to the outlet location and attach an "F" connector to the cable per the instructions accompanying that item
2. Press the cable "F" connector (male) to the "F" connector insert (female), then rotate clockwise until fully seated
3. Insert the "F" connector insert into an AnyPort designer, decorator, or Hide-A-Port outlet (rotate 90° for decorator outlets)

Designer Outlets

Designer outlets provide access to video, audio, telephone, and data services. They consist of a base plate (0–12 openings) and a bezel that snaps onto the front.

1. Run cables to the outlet location and attach jacks/connector inserts per accompanying instructions
2. The word "UP" is molded into the rear of the plate to assist correct orientation
3. Insert connector inserts and jacks into the outlet plate, oriented properly — incorrect insertion may damage the plate. Use blank inserts (OnQ 364294) to fill unused openings.
4. Mount the outlet plate to the wall box or bracket using the two provided mounting screws; use caution placing cable slack back into the wall
5. Attach the bezel to the base plate to complete installation

Decorator Outlets

Decorator outlets provide access to video, audio, telephone, and data services, with 0–4 openings.

1. Run cables to the outlet location and attach jacks/connector inserts per accompanying instructions
2. The word "UP" is molded into the rear of the outlet for correct orientation
3. Insert the connector inserts and jacks into the outlet, oriented properly — incorrect installation may damage the outlet
4. Mount the outlet to the wall box or bracket with the two provided screws; use caution placing cable slack back into the wall
5. Install a decorator-style outlet cover plate (not included) to complete installation
