    September 08, 2026 3 min read

Installation and operation instructions for the On-Q/Legrand Selective Call Intercom Door Unit, PN IC5002-XX.

    Full text manual (for reference)

    Overview

The On-Q/Legrand Selective Call Intercom Door Unit (PN IC5002-XX) is a weather-resistant door unit that lets a visitor notify occupants of their presence by pushing the door chime button. Occupants can then initiate two-way communication with the visitor and open the door (requires a separate door release device). Available in white (-WH), shiny brass (-SB), antique brass (-AB), brushed stainless (-BS), and oil-rubbed bronze (-OB).

    Description

The Door Unit is a 2-gang product that mounts within an outdoor weatherproof box (56" from the floor to the bottom of the box). A two-gang surface-mount box (P/N IC5006-BK) is also available for unique or retrofit installation requirements.

    Installation

Installation is best done in two phases during new construction: "Rough-in" (before drywall/siding) and "Trim-out" (after drywall is installed).

    Rough-in Steps

    1. Run a Cat 5 cable from the Enclosure where the Selective Call Intercom Module will be installed to the 2-gang box at the Door Unit location.
    • Note: A single Door Unit in a one-Module system can run up to 1000 feet from the Module for gate applications. All other Door Units must stay within 330 feet (100 meters) of the Distribution Module.
    • Note: Keep all Category 5e cable runs at least 12 inches away from AC electrical cables. If a run must cross an AC cable, cross it only at a 90-degree angle.

    Trim-out Steps

All terminations use T568A pin assignments with RJ45 jacks:

    Pin Wire Color
    1 White/Green
    2 Green
    3 White/Orange
    4 Blue
    5 White/Blue
    6 Orange
    7 White/Brown
    8 Brown
    1. Place the included rear gasket against the gang/back box, and secure it in place with the included mounting bracket. Make sure the mounting bracket's center tab points up — the Door Unit hangs from this tab later. (The bracket has slotted holes to allow leveling if the back box was installed off-level.)
    2. Use the four provided screws to attach the mounting bracket to the gang or back box.
    3. Pull the Cat 5 cable through the mounting bracket, terminate it with an RJ45 plug (T568A standard), and insert it into the RJ45 jack on the rear of the Door Unit.
    4. Hang the Door Unit from the top tab on the mounting bracket, then use the provided 1/16" allen wrench to tighten the two set screws at the bottom of the Door Unit.
    5. Terminate the other end of the Cat 5 cable at the Selective Call Intercom Module with an RJ45 plug (T568A standard).
    6. Insert the RJ45 plug into any of the eight Room, Patio, or Door Unit jacks on the Intercom Module (labeled 1-8).
    7. After all units and modules are connected, apply power to the Selective Call Intercom Module and verify system functionality — all Selective Call Room, Door, and Patio Units will be discovered and shown on each Room Unit LCD.

    Rear Terminal Block

A four-position terminal block on the rear of the Door Unit serves two purposes:

    • CHIME output: A normally-open dry contact closure used to ring a third-party door chime when the Door Unit button is pressed.
    • SENSOR input: Reserved for future application.

    Operation

The Door Unit includes a speaker, a microphone, and a Door Chime Button. When a visitor presses the button, one of 20 selectable door chimes sounds throughout the home at each active intercom unit. Occupants can then talk to the visitor from any Room or enabled Patio Unit — the visitor hears the occupant over the Door Unit's speaker and speaks back through its microphone. Occupants may also release the electronic door latch (if equipped) to let the visitor in.

For more detailed configuration and operation instructions, refer to the Selective Call System Installation Manual (P/N 1308003, shipped with the Room Unit) and the Selective Call System User Manual (P/N 1308001, shipped with the Selective Call Module). For electronic door release functionality, refer to the Selective Intercom 8 Location Distribution Module Information Sheet (IS-0385, shipped with the Distribution Module).
