On-Q Combo Modules (B Series) — Installation Instructions

Installation/Instruction Sheet for the OnQ Combo Modules (B Series) — structured wiring modules that distribute telephone service and RF (cable TV) off-air signals throughout a residence via an OnQ Service Center Enclosure.

Description

The Combo Module combines a telecom section and a video (RF) section in one mountable card:

• Video section: vertical-access "F"-style fittings for incoming/outgoing coax; comes in several insertion-loss versions.
• Telecom section: 8-position 110 punch-down connector for incoming 4-line service, plus 110 (8-position) punch-down connectors for extension/outlet runs. Some versions include an RJ-31X security interface jack.
• Module vertical dimension: 5 inches. Requires 7 inches of enclosure space total for coax cabling.

Mounting in Enclosure

1. Align tabs on the module with slots on the rail enclosure.
2. Insert tabs by angling the module away from the back of the enclosure.
3. Rotate the module and insert fasteners into corresponding holes on the enclosure rail (plunger must be in a pulled position for the fastener to engage the hole).
4. Push the plunger in to lock the module in place; pull on the module to confirm it's seated.

Video Portion — Service & Outlet Connections

• Route incoming service cable(s) to the "Cable In" fitting(s) on the module. Attach an RG-6 "F" connector and finger-tighten.
• Route outlet-drop cables to the appropriate fittings; attach RG-6 "F" connectors and finger-tighten.
• Do not bend cable in less than a 2-inch radius.
• Label all cables for identification and record room locations for each outlet run.

Telecom Portion — Incoming Service & Outlet Termination

1. Route the incoming service cable to the "Line In" 110 punch-down block, leaving slack for bundling. Trim cable ~2 inches beyond the connector.
2. Strip ~4 inches of outer jacket using the OnQ strip tool (P/N 363292-01) or equivalent.
3. Position wire pairs over the color-coded slots on the connector without untwisting them (white wires may lack a color trace stripe — keep paired by twist, not color).
4. Punch down and trim wires using the OnQ punch-down tool (P/N 363293-01) or equivalent; tug gently to confirm a secure connection.
5. Repeat the same process for each numbered outlet's 110 punch-down block; record room name/number against connector number on the enclosure's wire layout label.
6. Bundle and group all connected cables using wire management straps (P/N 363491-01) for ease of future maintenance.

Optional: Security Interface

• To enable line-seizure/dial-out capability for a security system, connect the RJ31X cable (supplied with the security system) to the RJ45 "Security" jack on the module, then TURN OFF Line 1 to activate the security link. Connect the other end per the security system's installation instructions.
• To disable security, remove the plug from the "Security" jack and set Line 1 back to "ON".
