    Overview

Without compromise, the RS-8 Rock is a high-performance speaker with three versatile connectivity options:

    • Single Channel operation — conventional two-channel stereo applications, providing separate left and right channels. Requires two speakers for stereo reproduction (one for left channel and one for right).
    • Dual Channel operation — connect the left and right amplifier channels to a single RS-8 Rock to provide a combined (summed) output. Only one speaker is required since both channels are combined within the speaker. Both connections 1 & 2 provide an 8-ohm load for the amplifier.
    • 4X Single Channel operation — for multi-speaker installations without complex wiring layouts or load-matching devices. This wiring option provides a 32-ohm load, allowing up to four RS-8 Rocks to be connected in parallel to a single amplifier channel while maintaining an 8-ohm load. Amplifiers with 4-ohm capability can drive up to eight Rocks per channel. In 25-volt commercial systems, this option provides a 20W load per speaker.

    Wiring Configurations

    • 1 — Single Channel: Requires two speakers for stereo reproduction (one for left channel and one for right).
    • 2 — Dual Channel: Only works with common-ground amplifiers. Most amplifiers are common ground. Dual Channel operation requires only one speaker since both channels are combined within the speaker.
    • 3 — 4X Single Channel: Available in Single Channel mode only. In 25V commercial systems, this option provides a 20W load.

    Safety Precautions

    • DO NOT USE BRIDGE MODE AMPLIFIERS in the Dual Channel configuration or damage may occur to the amplifier. (Most amplifiers are NOT bridge mode.)
    • DO NOT bury the speaker so that the grille becomes partially covered — leave at least 1 inch of space between the top of the ground cover and the bottom of the grille.
    • Avoid placing the speaker where the grille will receive direct water spray.
