    Full text manual (for reference)

Complete user guide for the NuBryte Touchpoint smart light switch and companion mobile app by LUCIS Technologies. Covers DIY installation, WiFi setup, account creation, advanced lighting modes, security/intercom functions, and troubleshooting.

    Safety Warnings & Requirements

    • Use only with permanently-installed lighting fixtures. Do NOT use to control power outlets, fluorescent fixtures, motor-driven appliances (e.g. ceiling fans with lights), or transformer-supplied appliances — risk of overheating.
    • Requires a Neutral wire in the existing switch box. Cannot be installed without one — contact a licensed electrician if unsure.
    • Single-pole switches only. NuBryte Touchpoint cannot be installed on 3-way / multi-way switch circuits (where two or more switches control the same light).
    • Only choose the dimming option with incandescent, halogen, or dimmable CFL/LED bulbs. Not all CFL/LED bulbs are dimmable.
    • Always turn off power at the breaker/fuse box and verify with a non-contact voltage detector before working on wiring.

    Installation Requirements

    • WiFi router supporting 802.11 b/g/n (2.4GHz)
    • Neutral wire present in the existing switch box
    • Single OR double gang Touchpoint switch (matched to the switch box)
    • Light controlled by a single-pole switch only (not 3-way/multi-way)
    • Copper wiring — consult an electrician if your home has aluminum wiring
    • Minimum ~2.5" of depth in the electrical box (2" may suffice in some cases); new construction boxes: 18 cu. in. (single gang) / 25 cu. in. (double gang) minimum per NEC 314.16
    • Smartphone running Android 4.0+ or iOS 7+

    Bulb Compatibility & Max Wattage

    • Dimmable LED — ≤150W per fixture
    • Dimmable CFL — ≤150W per fixture
    • Incandescent — ≤300W per fixture
    • Halogen — ≤300W per fixture

Do not mix bulb types/brands on the same fixture — it can cause inconsistent dimming.

    Installation Overview

    1. Turn OFF power at the breaker/fuse panel for the switch being replaced. Verify with a non-contact voltage detector.
    2. Remove the switch plate, unscrew the old switch, and label each wire before disconnecting (Ground, Hot/Live, Load, Neutral — colors vary; see manual for details).
    3. Connect the NuBryte base unit's wires to the matching wall wires using the included wire connectors. For double-gang units: tie all Neutral wires together, all Hot/Live wires together, connect each Load wire to its respective fixture, and tie/ground appropriately.
    4. Tuck wires into the box and screw the base unit to the wall, flush and straight.
    5. Restore power at the breaker/fuse panel, then test the mechanical on/off and dimming buttons on the base unit.
    6. Attach the display unit to the base unit — align the pegs and press until it clicks into place.

    Initial Setup Wizard

On first power-up, complete the Setup Wizard: select your WiFi network and enter its password, choose the room type, name the device and its lighting fixture(s), indicate whether bulbs are dimmable (and calibrate if so), then set time zone, date, and time. All devices in the home should join the same WiFi network for full functionality (including Intercom Mode between units).

    NuBryte Account & Mobile App

    • A free NuBryte Account (via the app or nubryte.com) unlocks remote control, advanced lighting modes, security notifications with video clips, event scheduling, and community support access.
    • The first person to link an account to a device becomes the Account Manager and can invite other household members by email — invitees set their own login credentials.
    • The app is available for iOS 7+ and Android; note the iPhone app is not optimized for iPad.
    • NuBryte automatically applies software updates over the internet; policy changes require on-screen re-acceptance.

    Touchpoint Functions

    Lighting Control

    • On/Off & Dimming — approach the console to wake the display, then tap or slide to control brightness (Halo or Dial alternative dimming controls available).
    • Multi-Control — view and control all NuBryte switches on the network from any single console ("Other Lights" / All On / All Off).
    • Advanced Lighting Modes (set via the mobile app):
      • Vacation Mode — lights cycle on/off (optionally randomized) between set dates while away
      • Morning Wake Up Mode — lights brighten 0–100% over 5 minutes before your set wake time
      • Bedtime Mode — lights dim to 0% over 30 minutes before your set bedtime
      • Night Light Mode — brightens to 30% on large motion (e.g. getting out of bed) during set hours
      • Motion Mode — turns lights on/off automatically based on occupancy, with a configurable on-duration

    Security Mode

Activated via the side button; first-time use requires setting a 4-digit code (write it down — resetting the code requires a full device reset) and a 30/60/90-second arming countdown.

    Intercom

Available between NuBryte units on the same WiFi network/access point or sub-net.

    Internet Connectivity Troubleshooting

    • Check the WiFi signal icon (greyed out = router connection issue) and Cloud icon (struck-through = NuBryte server connection issue) by swiping down from the top of the display.
    • If the network won't connect: power-cycle the router (unplug 10 sec, wait 30+ sec after restoring power), then retry the Setup Wizard.
    • Still stuck: use a pin to press the RESET pinhole on the left side of the display unit to reboot (settings retained).
    • Last resort: Menu > Settings > Information > Reset Device — this erases personal settings/energy history (energy data restores once reconnected and re-paired; up to several hours of data may be lost).
    • If a device disappears from the app's device list: ensure phone and all NuBryte units share the same WiFi network, restart the app, and use Device List > Refresh to re-pair (orange icon = paired, grey = unpaired).

Caring for & Cleaning NuBryte Touchpoint

    • Keep liquids away — liquid damage is not covered under warranty.
    • Periodically verify the display unit is securely seated on the base; avoid unnecessary removal.
    • Keep free of dust; avoid excessively dusty or humid installation locations.
    • Clean with a soft, lint-free cloth only. Do NOT use window/household cleaners, compressed air, solvents, ammonia, abrasives, hydrogen-peroxide cleaners, or aerosol sprays, and never spray cleaner directly onto the unit.
    • The screen has an oleo-phobic coating that repels fingerprint oil; this effect diminishes with abrasive cleaning over time.

    Regulatory

FCC Class B compliant. This device may not cause harmful interference and must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
