    Manual for the NetMedia NM-POCJBOX Power over Coax Camera — an in-wall junction box-mounted surveillance camera that transmits both power and video over a single RG6 coax cable using One Wire Video™ technology, eliminating the need to run multiple cables to the camera location.

    Overview

    Mounts in a standard single-gang junction (light switch) box and is viewed with a security monitor or television. The camera assembly includes a built-in PoC (Power over Coax) Video Encoder; a separate PoC Video Decoder exchanges power and video with the camera across one coax run. Available in three variants:

    • NM-POCJBOX-B — Black & White
    • NM-POCJBOX-C — Color
    • NM-POCJBOX-H — Day/Night Color

    Installation

    1. Connect RG6 coax between the camera and Decoder F-connectors. Each Camera/Decoder pair needs its own dedicated point-to-point circuit — never connect this coax to video distribution equipment (splitters, amplifiers, etc.), as it carries DC voltage that can damage other devices.
    2. Connect a video cable from the Decoder's RCA Video Out to your viewing device (monitor, Quad, DVR, modulator). Use RCA-to-BNC adapters if needed.
    3. Connect the 24V DC 200mA power transformer from an AC outlet to the Decoder's power input.
    4. Install the Camera Assembly into the junction box and adjust the viewing angle.
    5. Snap the dark or clear lens cover into the cover plate by pressing all four corners simultaneously.
    6. Attach the cover plate to the junction box (silicone sealant optional).

    Do not cut or splice the camera's cables — modifying the unit in any way voids the warranty.

    Distribution Options

    • Single TV: Camera → Decoder → TV's composite RCA video input jack (viewed on a dedicated input, not a channel).
    • Multiple devices: Camera → Decoder → Quad/Sequencer/DVR → Monitor/TV, with a loopback or video-out jack on every device except the last.
    • Whole-house distribution: Camera → Decoder → Modulator → Amplifier → Splitter/Combiner → multiple TVs, viewed on the modulated channel.

    Troubleshooting FAQ

    • Can I connect the camera coax to distribution equipment? No — the Decoder outputs DC voltage on the coax that other equipment isn't built to handle, and the camera doesn't work properly with RF splitters, diplexers, or amplifiers.
    • How do I view on a regular TV without a security monitor? Plug the Decoder's composite output directly into a TV's RCA video input, or feed it into a modulator (e.g. NetMedia MM70) to distribute it as a UHF/Cable channel.
    • Picture looks washed out or too dark? The camera's auto-iris balances exposure across the whole frame — adjust the field of view so more of the problem area (light or shadow) is visible, or add lighting to dark areas.
    • Will it work beyond 100 feet? Not officially supported, but some installations work at longer distances with gradually degrading video quality.
    • Dark lens cover picture looks strange? The dark cover needs strong incandescent/IR/sunlight to render properly and can make vegetation look unusual under IR. Use the clear cover if the dark one isn't suitable for the lighting conditions.
