Installation and activation guide for the NAPCO iSeeVideo ISEE-SCHGW Single Channel Video Gateway — converts an analog CCTV camera into an internet-ready IP camera for use with NAPCO's VideoAlert.net remote video monitoring service.
The NAPCO iSeeVideo VideoAlert.net system provides remote video internet monitoring of residential and light commercial properties, with a subscription-based account model offering recurring revenue opportunities for CCTV installers.
The ISEE-SCHGW converts any analog CCTV camera into an internet-ready IP camera using MPEG4 compression, delivering up to 704x480 resolution video viewable through the VideoAlert server on virtually any computer worldwide, at up to 30 frames per second. It has an input trigger that, when activated, prompts transmission of video clips to the VideoAlert.net server, plus a local video output for a monitor or video modulator. The gateway provides dynamic IP support through NAPCO's DNS server — every 16 seconds it checks in to ensure the DHCP IP address stays current.
ISEE-EOP-MOD200 (optional): An Ethernet-Over-Power module that transmits video over existing home/business power lines. Plug-and-play — connect devices to their respective EOP modules, then plug into electrical outlets. Creates a powerline network for video transmission up to 200 Mbps, capable of transmitting across phases of typical multi-phase residential power.
G-BOX (optional, patented): An internet video accessory optimizing performance on cable broadband installations by establishing a point-to-point connection between the video gateway and PC. Sits between the broadband modem and router; also functions as a router (if the customer's PC is the only connected device) or a switch (with devices plugged into LAN ports). Provides 4 auto-sensing LAN ports and functions as both DHCP client and server.
VideoAlert.net server: Maintains accounts and lets subscribers view their gateway from any PC or web-enabled cell phone (Windows, Apple, Linux, or WAP-enabled mobile). Automatically emails subscribers on triggered video events and archives clips. Each account gets 50MB of storage (~75 ten-second clips, adjustable 5-second pre/post-alarm).

To initiate video transmission to the VideoAlert.net server, wire a normally-closed relay across the DO and DI terminals — a momentary open across this connection triggers video. The trigger input feature must be activated in Advanced Features (see below). Typical wiring uses a NAPCO RB1000 form "C" relay connected to a control panel's PGM output.
If no G-BOX is available, wire the cable installation the same as a DSL modem installation, below.
If there's no internet connectivity, an enterprise-class router/firewall may sit between the network jack and the outside connection — ask the IT professional to open this port to the outside world.
Using the G-BOX as a switch: If additional ports are needed, power down all devices, connect them to the G-BOX LAN ports, then power up all devices; wait one minute, power down and back up again to ensure proper switch operation.
From My Account, click Add a New User and complete the User Details screen (all fields required — up to 5 users total, including the Primary User). Enable "Authorize Live Video Review" to allow that user to view live video at any time; "Auto-detect Best Video Viewer" should generally stay enabled. Click Email Alert Settings to specify which users receive email notifications on motion-detection events, along with a custom subject/body.
If the ISEE-SCHGW will only be used for live viewing with no triggered video events, configuration isn't required. Otherwise:
Note: Motion detection analyzes pixel changes — limit detection windows to areas of anticipated activity. Outdoors, blowing branches, changing sun/shade, or cloud cover can cause nuisance triggers; exclude those areas.
From the live viewer, click the Advanced Settings icon to access: Camera Time & Date (set time zone; time/date is NTP-synced), Enable Time Stamp, Enable Text Display (camera name overlay), Event Schedule (select days and Start/End times for motion-detection triggering), Audio Enable Microphone/Speaker, and HW Trigger Input (enables the normally-closed trigger input — see Trigger Input Terminals above).
Click My Videos to see thumbnails with time/date stamps for each stored clip. Clips can be deleted or downloaded to the local hard drive. Once account storage reaches its maximum, each new stored file causes automatic deletion of the oldest file.

Note: EOP modules must be plugged directly into a wall outlet. If a power strip is required, it must be non-surge-protected / non-noise-filtered — many power strips' internal surge protection can prevent EOP modules from operating.

The same procedure adds a new EOP module to an existing secure network: hold the SECURITY button on a module already in the secure network, then hold the SECURITY button on the module to be added.
What does the G-BOX do? It's a patented Internet Video accessory that optimizes performance on cable broadband installations by establishing a point-to-point connection between the video gateway and PC, sitting between the modem and router, and automatically forwarding data to the correct device.
Can the ISEE-SCHGW record full-time video? No — it's designed to send 10-second video clips triggered by events (alarm, door opening, disarm, etc.), not continuous recording.
How does pixel-based motion detection work? Four user-programmable detection zones, each with adjustable sensitivity, plus a programmable global arming schedule.
Sequence of events on a trigger: (1) Motion detected or trigger input opens; (2) device freezes pre-alarm buffered frames; (3) connection established to the VideoAlert server; (4) a 10-second clip (including pre-alarm video) is sent; (5) subscriber email notification sent; (6) customer clicks the email link to view the clip, or clicks Live Viewer to view live video.
Does it require a static IP? No — it operates on DHCP. When the IP address changes, the gateway reports to NAPCO's Dynamic DNS network to update its address automatically.
What's required at the premises? A broadband internet connection, preferably always-on (DSL or cable).
Cable Internet — losing connection after installing the G-BOX: Cable modems typically lock to the MAC address of the first connected router/PC. Power down the modem for 15 minutes (varies by ISP/modem), then power up the G-BOX followed by the gateway to reinitialize.
Overflow signal processing policy: If more than 10 signals (videos) are received from the same IP address within 10 minutes, the ISEE-SCHGW is temporarily disabled by the server to prevent a runaway condition. A new cycle starts roughly every 2 hours, resetting any previously denied devices.
G-BOX default DHCP range: 192.168.8.201 to 192.168.8.216.
