    Installation and activation guide for the NAPCO iSeeVideo ISEE-SCHGW Single Channel Video Gateway — converts an analog CCTV camera into an internet-ready IP camera for use with NAPCO's VideoAlert.net remote video monitoring service.

    System Overview

    The NAPCO iSeeVideo VideoAlert.net system provides remote video internet monitoring of residential and light commercial properties, with a subscription-based account model offering recurring revenue opportunities for CCTV installers.

    The ISEE-SCHGW converts any analog CCTV camera into an internet-ready IP camera using MPEG4 compression, delivering up to 704x480 resolution video viewable through the VideoAlert server on virtually any computer worldwide, at up to 30 frames per second. It has an input trigger that, when activated, prompts transmission of video clips to the VideoAlert.net server, plus a local video output for a monitor or video modulator. The gateway provides dynamic IP support through NAPCO's DNS server — every 16 seconds it checks in to ensure the DHCP IP address stays current.

    ISEE-EOP-MOD200 (optional): An Ethernet-Over-Power module that transmits video over existing home/business power lines. Plug-and-play — connect devices to their respective EOP modules, then plug into electrical outlets. Creates a powerline network for video transmission up to 200 Mbps, capable of transmitting across phases of typical multi-phase residential power.

    G-BOX (optional, patented): An internet video accessory optimizing performance on cable broadband installations by establishing a point-to-point connection between the video gateway and PC. Sits between the broadband modem and router; also functions as a router (if the customer's PC is the only connected device) or a switch (with devices plugged into LAN ports). Provides 4 auto-sensing LAN ports and functions as both DHCP client and server.

    VideoAlert.net server: Maintains accounts and lets subscribers view their gateway from any PC or web-enabled cell phone (Windows, Apple, Linux, or WAP-enabled mobile). Automatically emails subscribers on triggered video events and archives clips. Each account gets 50MB of storage (~75 ten-second clips, adjustable 5-second pre/post-alarm).

    Installation Overview

    1. Install the ISEE-SCHGW gateway(s) and camera(s).
    2. Wire the network connection.
    3. Activate the new ISEE-SCHGW account on the VideoAlert server at videoalert.net.
    4. (Optional) Configure motion detection triggering — either locally or online by entering the gateway's security code at videoalert.net.

    Installing & Wiring the Gateway

    Connector Descriptions

    • VIDEO IN: Connect BNC connector from the analog camera.
    • VIDEO OUT (optional): Feeds a local monitor or video distribution system.
    • Audio LINE/MIC IN (optional): Standard PC-compatible microphone via 3.5mm jack for 2-way audio.
    • Audio LINE OUT (optional): Powered speaker via 3.5mm jack for 2-way audio.
    • NETWORK LED: Flashes on active network connection.
    • ACTIVE LED: Flashes when the device is being viewed.
    • POWER LED: Lit when module power is present.
    • ETHERNET: CAT5 cable from broadband modem or network to the RJ-45 terminal.
    • POWER: Connect the supplied 12VDC power adapter.

    Trigger Input Terminals

    To initiate video transmission to the VideoAlert.net server, wire a normally-closed relay across the DO and DI terminals — a momentary open across this connection triggers video. The trigger input feature must be activated in Advanced Features (see below). Typical wiring uses a NAPCO RB1000 form "C" relay connected to a control panel's PGM output.

    Wiring the Network Connection

    Cable Modem Service (G-BOX recommended for optimum performance)

    1. Power down the cable modem and router.
    2. Wire the G-BOX in standard configuration (G-BOX WAN to modem WAN).
    3. Wait 15 minutes, then power up the cable modem. (Some ISPs lock onto the MAC address of the first device after the modem; powering down for 15 minutes forces the ISP to recognize the G-BOX's new MAC address.)
    4. Wait 1 minute, then power up the G-BOX, then the customer's router.
    5. Test local PC internet connectivity.
    6. Go to www.VideoAlert.net and click NEW ACTIVATION.

    If no G-BOX is available, wire the cable installation the same as a DSL modem installation, below.

    DSL Broadband Modem Installation

    1. Power down the DSL modem and router.
    2. Wire as shown in the manual's diagram (VIP devices between modem and router).
    3. Wait 15 minutes, power up the modem.
    4. Wait 1 minute, power up the VIP devices, then the customer's router.
    5. Go to www.VideoAlert.net and click NEW ACTIVATION.

    ISP Type Cannot Be Identified (Commercial Installations)

    1. Connect the VIP device directly into the network connection (typically an RJ45 jack connected to a router) — that router port must provide internet access.
    2. Power up the VIP device.
    3. Go to www.VideoAlert.net and click NEW ACTIVATION.

    If there's no internet connectivity, an enterprise-class router/firewall may sit between the network jack and the outside connection — ask the IT professional to open this port to the outside world.

    Using the G-BOX as a switch: If additional ports are needed, power down all devices, connect them to the G-BOX LAN ports, then power up all devices; wait one minute, power down and back up again to ensure proper switch operation.

    Activating the VideoAlert.net Account

    1. Go to videoalert.net and click NEW ACTIVATION. Enter the 8-character Security Code printed on the label on the bottom of the gateway (format: SC______).
    2. Enter your Company Dealer Admin ID and Password on the Dealer Branding screen.
    3. Choose Create Subscriber Account Now (for a single gateway) or one of: Add/Replace a VIP Device, Brand Another VIP Device, or Go to Login Page.
    4. Enter subscriber details (name, address, phone, etc.) — fields marked with an asterisk are required. The User ID/Password entered here becomes the Master User with administrative privileges (programming Advanced Settings, adding Users).
    5. Review the Confirmation screen for accuracy, then click Update to complete activation.
    6. Test the account by logging in at the Login Screen with the new User ID/Password.
    7. On successful login, the Welcome screen ("Home" screen) appears, allowing account management, gateway viewing, and stored video review.

    Adding Users to the Account

    From My Account, click Add a New User and complete the User Details screen (all fields required — up to 5 users total, including the Primary User). Enable "Authorize Live Video Review" to allow that user to view live video at any time; "Auto-detect Best Video Viewer" should generally stay enabled. Click Email Alert Settings to specify which users receive email notifications on motion-detection events, along with a custom subject/body.

    Adding or Replacing a Gateway on an Existing Account

    1. Return to the videoalert.net login screen and click NEW ACTIVATION.
    2. Enter the new gateway's 8-character Security Code and click Next.
    3. Enter Dealer Admin ID/Password on the Dealer Branding screen.
    4. Click Add or Replace a VIP Device.
    5. Select the correct account from the dealer's account list, then click Next.
    6. Enter a description for the new gateway, then select "Add Device" from the pull-down menu (or select the device to replace if swapping an existing VIP Device).
    7. On completion, the login screen displays "VIP Activation completed successfully!"

    Configuring Motion Detection (Optional)

    If the ISEE-SCHGW will only be used for live viewing with no triggered video events, configuration isn't required. Otherwise:

    1. Log in at videoalert.net with your username/password.
    2. Click My Cameras to see a live image from the gateway. Use the Video On Demand button to record and store a 10-second clip on demand.
    3. For pixel-based motion detection: click the Video Motion icon to open Video Motion Settings, check "Active," then drag a colored detection window into the live image (hold SHIFT while dragging a side to resize).
    4. Set sensitivity per detection area (0–100%, higher = more sensitive) using the slider control.
    5. Use the PRE and POST sliders to set Pre-Capture and Post-Capture Length (video captured before/after the motion event).
    6. Click Apply/Save, then click the gateway name above the live view to exit.

    Note: Motion detection analyzes pixel changes — limit detection windows to areas of anticipated activity. Outdoors, blowing branches, changing sun/shade, or cloud cover can cause nuisance triggers; exclude those areas.

    Motion Detection Schedules

    From the live viewer, click the Advanced Settings icon to access: Camera Time & Date (set time zone; time/date is NTP-synced), Enable Time Stamp, Enable Text Display (camera name overlay), Event Schedule (select days and Start/End times for motion-detection triggering), Audio Enable Microphone/Speaker, and HW Trigger Input (enables the normally-closed trigger input — see Trigger Input Terminals above).

    Viewing Stored Video

    Click My Videos to see thumbnails with time/date stamps for each stored clip. Clips can be deleted or downloaded to the local hard drive. Once account storage reaches its maximum, each new stored file causes automatic deletion of the oldest file.

    Setting Up the EOP Modules

    1. Connect a CAT5 cable from an EOP module to the gateway and plug the module into an AC wall socket.
    2. Connect a CAT5 cable from another EOP module to the G-BOX and plug into an AC wall socket.
    3. Wait a minute, then check LEDs: Power LED should be ON; PLC Link LED is ON if other EOP modules are detected (otherwise OFF); Ethernet LED should be ON.

    Note: EOP modules must be plugged directly into a wall outlet. If a power strip is required, it must be non-surge-protected / non-noise-filtered — many power strips' internal surge protection can prevent EOP modules from operating.

    Creating a Secure EOP Network

    By default, EOP modules communicate but are not encrypted. To secure the network with AES encryption:

    1. Hold down the SECURITY button on one EOP module for 3 seconds (Power LED flashes).
    2. Hold down the SECURITY button on the other EOP module for 3 seconds (Power LED flashes).
    3. After a few seconds, the Power and PLC Link LEDs turn solid on — configuration successful.

    The same procedure adds a new EOP module to an existing secure network: hold the SECURITY button on a module already in the secure network, then hold the SECURITY button on the module to be added.

    What does the G-BOX do?     Troubleshooting

    Cable Internet — losing connection after installing the G-BOX: Cable modems typically lock to the MAC address of the first connected router/PC. Power down the modem for 15 minutes (varies by ISP/modem), then power up the G-BOX followed by the gateway to reinitialize.

    Overflow signal processing policy: If more than 10 signals (videos) are received from the same IP address within 10 minutes, the ISEE-SCHGW is temporarily disabled by the server to prevent a runaway condition. A new cycle starts roughly every 2 hours, resetting any previously denied devices.

    G-BOX default DHCP range: 192.168.8.201 to 192.168.8.216.
