    Installation guide for the NAPCO ISEE-VCMPT Pan/Tilt IP Camera, part of the NAPCO iSeeVideo VideoAlert.net remote video monitoring system. This legacy product (circa 2008) provided subscription-based internet video monitoring for residential and light commercial installations.

    Overview

    The ISEE-VCMPT is a digital IP camera providing remote Pan-Tilt viewing over the internet via any PC. Using MPEG-4 compression, it delivers up to 640x480 resolution video at up to 30 frames per second through the iSeeVideo VideoAlert.net server. The camera includes built-in Dynamic DNS support, checking in with NAPCO's DNS server every 16 seconds to keep its address current.

    Two optional accessories extend the system:

    • ISEE-EOP-MOD200 — an Ethernet-Over-Power module that transmits video over existing electrical wiring at up to 200 Mbps, useful where running network cable isn't practical.
    • G-BOX — an optional Internet Video accessory placed between the broadband modem and router, providing a point-to-point connection between camera and PC for optimum performance on cable broadband. It also functions as a 4-port switch/router and DHCP client/server.

    Installation Overview

    1. Install the ISEE-VCMPT camera (table top, wall mount, ceiling mount, or standard 0.25-20 stud camera bracket)
    2. Wire the network connection (see wiring scenarios below)
    3. Activate the new ISEE-VCMPT account on the VideoAlert.net server
    4. Optionally configure motion detection triggering at www.VideoAlert.net using the camera's security code

    Camera Terminals and Connections

    • LAN — Connect CAT5 cable from broadband modem, network, or EOP module to the RJ-45 LAN terminal.
    • POWER — Connect the supplied 12VDC power adapter.
    • MIC (optional) — Standard PC-compatible microphone via 3.5mm LINE/MIC input for two-way audio.
    • SPEAK (optional) — Powered speaker via 3.5mm LINE OUT jack for two-way audio.

    LED indicators: Power (lit = module powered), Activity (flashes when video is being viewed), Network (flashes on active network connection).

    Network Wiring Scenarios

    Cable Modem service (G-BOX recommended):

    1. Power down cable modem and router
    2. Wire G-BOX in standard configuration (G-BOX WAN to Modem WAN)
    3. Wait 15 minutes, power up cable modem (this forces the ISP to recognize the G-BOX's new MAC address)
    4. Wait 1 minute, power up G-BOX, then customer's router
    5. Test local PC for internet connectivity
    6. Go to www.VideoAlert.net and click NEW ACTIVATION

    DSL Broadband Modem: Power down modem/router, wire as shown (modem → customer's router → camera devices), wait 15 minutes, power up modem, wait 1 minute, power up camera devices then router, activate account.

    Unknown ISP type (commercial installs): Connect the camera directly into the available network connection (typically an RJ-45 jack on a router with internet access), power up, and activate. If there's no connectivity, an IT professional may need to open the port on an enterprise firewall/router.

    Need more ports: The G-BOX can act as a switch — power down connected devices, wire them into the G-BOX LAN ports, power everything back up (cycle power once more to confirm proper switch operation).

    Account Activation

    1. Go to https://www.videoalert.net/ and click NEW ACTIVATION
    2. Enter the 8-character security code (format SC______) printed on the label on the bottom of the camera, click Next
    3. Enter your Company Dealer Admin ID and Password on the Dealer Branding screen, click Next
    4. Choose Create Subscriber Account Now for a single-camera system; enter subscriber details (name, address, phone, User ID/Password — this becomes the Master/Admin User)
    5. Review the Confirmation screen and click Update to finalize
    6. Log in with the new User ID/Password to reach the Welcome/Home screen

    To add additional cameras to an existing account, return to the login screen, click NEW ACTIVATION, enter the new camera's security code, complete Dealer Branding, then choose the target account from the pull-down list and select "Add Device."

    Each account supports up to 5 Users (including the Master User) and 50MB of video storage (~75 clips of 10 seconds, adjustable 5-second pre/post-alarm). Users can be added under My Account, and email alert recipients configured under Email Alert Settings.

    Motion Detection Configuration (Optional)

    The ISEE-VCMPT supports pixel-based motion detection with 4 user-programmable zones. Log in at www.VideoAlert.net, open My Cameras, click the Video Motion icon, and enable the Active checkbox. Drag the detection window into the live image and size it (hold SHIFT while dragging an edge). Set sensitivity per zone (0–100%) and adjust Pre-Capture / Post-Capture length (1–10 seconds each) for how much video is buffered before/after a trigger.

    Tip: keep detection zones limited to areas of real activity — outdoor zones can generate nuisance triggers from moving branches, shadows, or lighting changes.

    Motion detection can also be scheduled by day and time window via the Advanced Settings screen, so triggering only occurs during specified periods.

    EOP Module Setup and Security

    1. Connect a CAT5 cable from an EOP module to the camera and plug the module into an AC wall socket
    2. Connect a CAT5 cable from another EOP module to the G-BOX and plug into an AC wall socket
    3. Wait about a minute, then check LEDs: Power (on), PLC Link (on if another EOP module detected), Ethernet (on)

    Creating a secure (AES encrypted) EOP network: Hold the Security button on one EOP module for 3 seconds (Power LED flashes), then hold the Security button on the other module for 3 seconds (Power LED flashes). After a few seconds the Power and PLC Link LEDs will be steady on, confirming success. To add a new module to an already-secured network, repeat the same process between an existing secured module and the new one.

    Note: EOP modules must be plugged directly into a wall outlet — some AC power strips with internal surge protection can prevent EOP modules from operating correctly.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    • Mobile viewing: No special software is required — VideoAlert.net supports WML/HTML on mobile browsers; most devices just need JavaScript and image display enabled.
    • Full-time recording: The system is not designed for continuous DVR-style recording. It sends 10-second clips triggered by events (motion, alarm, door opening, disarm, etc.).
    • G-BOX role: Becomes the primary router upon installation; other devices (PC, wireless router, VoIP adapter) can connect to any open G-BOX port.
    • Static IP: Not required — the camera operates on DHCP and reports IP changes to NAPCO's Dynamic DNS servers automatically.
    • Re-registering a camera: Dealers have full account control and can reassign a camera to a new user if the original user cancels or moves.

    Troubleshooting

    • Losing internet after installing the G-BOX (cable service): Cable modems often lock to the MAC address of the first connected device. Power down the modem for 15 minutes to force it to recognize the new G-BOX MAC address, then power up the G-BOX followed by the camera.
    • G-BOX default DHCP range: 192.168.8.201 to 192.168.8.216.

    Warranty

    NAPCO warrants this product against manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months from the date of manufacture. NAPCO will repair or replace defective products at its option, at no charge to the original purchaser, during that period. The warranty does not cover products that have been improperly installed, misused, altered, damaged, or subjected to acts of God. Claims for breach of warranty must be brought within six months following the end of the warranty period. Liability under this warranty is limited to NAPCO's original selling price of the product; NAPCO is not liable for consequential or incidental damages. To exercise the warranty, contact the security professional who installed and maintains the system — the product must be returned through them, shipping prepaid and insured, to NAPCO.
