    Full text manual (for reference)

Assembly and instruction guide for the MAXSA Outdoor Night-Light™ (Model #: 40341, 40342) — a battery-powered, motion-activated LED night light for indoor or outdoor use.

    Overview

The Outdoor Night-Light™ lights the way with three brilliant LEDs, guided by a built-in motion sensor and photosensor. It's suitable for both indoor and outdoor use — entrances, hallways, steps, walkways, porches, gates, sheds, decks, bathrooms, or any dark space. It's totally portable and needs no wiring, running on 3 AA batteries (not included) that typically last 6–12 months.

    Choosing a Location

    • Avoid placing near other light sources (street lighting, porch lighting) — these can cause the unit to shut off automatically.
    • Keep away from heaters, air conditioners, barbecues, and vents.
    • Avoid large reflective surfaces such as swimming pools, jacuzzis, and white walls, which can cause false triggers.
    • Do not aim the motion sensor toward the sun — this can damage internal components.

At night, the LEDs stay on for about 50–60 seconds after the last detected movement. If motion is detected again while the light is on, the duration resets for another 50–60 seconds.

    Battery Installation

    1. Slide the tab on the bottom of the mounting plate to "Open" and slide the mounting plate down off the back of the unit.
    2. Push up the tab of the battery cover inside and install 3 AA batteries, matching the polarity markings.

Note: If the light doesn't turn on after installing batteries, confirm fresh batteries are inserted with correct +/- polarity and making secure contact with the terminals.

    Mounting

    1. Slide the mounting plate down and off the unit (as in Battery Installation).
    2. Hold the flat side of the mounting plate against the wall and secure with the two supplied screws. On hard surfaces (drywall, cement, brick), drill pilot holes first and use the included screw anchors.
    3. Slide the main body of the light back onto the mounting plate once it's attached to the wall.

    Operation

    1. Install the batteries.
    2. Choose a suitable location.
    3. Mount the light, or simply stand it on any flat surface.
    4. The built-in motion sensor automatically turns the light on when movement is detected nearby, and keeps it on as long as motion continues. There is no On/Off switch — the light activates only via motion.
    5. The built-in photosensor restricts activation to nighttime or dark conditions, conserving battery life.

    Troubleshooting

    Problem Possible Cause Solution
Light does not turn on when there is movement in the detection area. Batteries are old. Replace with fresh batteries.
Nearby lighting is too bright. Redirect the sensor or relocate away from other light sources.
The sensor is facing the wrong direction. Aim the sensor toward the desired detection area.
Light turns on for no apparent reason (false trigger). Heat sources (A/C, vents, barbecues, moving cars, other lighting) triggering the motion sensor. Install away from these sources of interference.
Pets or other animals triggering the sensor. Redirect the sensor.
Reflections from pools, jacuzzis, white walls, or other reflective surfaces. Install away from sources of reflection.
