    August 31, 2026 3 min read

Owner's manual for the M&S Systems Platinum Series PSW112 Powered Subwoofer — setup, connection options, controls, specs, and warranty.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Owner's manual for the M&S Systems Platinum Series PSW112 Powered Subwoofer — a freestanding, down-firing subwoofer with a 12" speaker, 100-watt RMS amplifier, and adjustable crossover.

    Key Features

    • 12" speaker in a tuned port enclosure for minimum size / maximum sound efficiency
    • 100-watt RMS amplifier
    • High level/low level inputs
    • Variable crossover adjustment
    • Crossover bypass switch
    • Auto-power switch and indicator
    • Volume control

Each box contains one subwoofer, available in black only — freestanding, down-firing, with adjustable crossover.

    Unpacking

Save the carton and packaging material for possible later use. To attach the feet, lay the subwoofer on its top with the speaker facing up, then screw the feet into the pre-drilled holes on the bottom. Once secure, stand the subwoofer upright on its feet. If it appears damaged, do not attempt to repair or connect it — remove the feet, repack it, and notify your distributor or M&S Systems for replacement/repair.

    Placement

For the best sound, place the PSW112 next to a wall or in a front corner of the room near your main speakers.

Important: do not cover or seal the back of the subwoofer — this reduces air ventilation and may damage the unit.

    Connecting the Subwoofer

First, turn off power to your entire system to prevent short circuits from damaging your equipment. There are three connection methods, depending on your system:

    1. Amplifier with a subwoofer output connection: use an RCA connector to connect the PSW112 to your receiver. A shielded audio cable with a Y-adapter connects to the Left and Right Line Level Inputs on the subwoofer.
    2. Separate pre-amp/power amp configuration: route audio cables through the PSW112. Connect the pre-amplifier to the Line Level Inputs via RCA cables, and connect the Line Level Outputs to the power amplifier.
    3. Speaker wire connection: connect wires from the amplifier to the Speaker Level Inputs, and wires going to the speakers to the Speaker Level Outputs. The Speaker Level Output has a built-in 100Hz high-pass filter.

Important: make sure no loose strands of wire touch each other across speaker or amplifier terminals — this can short-circuit and damage your electronics.

Plug in the PSW112 power cord directly into an unswitched outlet. Do not use a switched outlet on your receiver — the PSW112's automatic standby circuit needs constant power for prompt power-up; a switched outlet delays output and can cause noise on power-down.

    Subwoofer Controls

All controls are on the back of the unit:

    • Frequency Adjust: sets the upper frequency range of the subwoofer. Typical setting with MNCX Platinum Mini-Cube speakers is 120Hz–140Hz.
    • Auto Power:
      • Auto Power On — powers down a few minutes after signal is removed, and powers on immediately when it receives a signal.
      • Auto Power Off — stays constantly on whenever the unit is powered up.
    • Volume Control: set to the desired bass level for the system.
    • Phase: switch between 0° and 180° to find the loudest bass response. Some setups show no noticeable difference — in that case, leave it at 0°.
    • X'Over Bypass:
      • Off — the subwoofer operates per the Frequency Adjust setting.
      • On — bypasses the Frequency Adjust setting, extending the subwoofer's high-end range to approximately 300Hz.
