  • Luxul XWS-2510 Wireless Controller System — Quick Install Guide

    August 31, 2026 4 min read

Quick install guide for the Luxul XWS-2510 Wireless Controller System, including the XWC-1000 Wireless Controller and two XAP-1510 AC1900 dual-band access points.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Quick install guide for the Luxul XWS-2510 Wireless Controller System with High Power AC1900 Dual-Band Wireless APs — includes an XWC-1000 Wireless Controller and two XAP-1510 access points.

    Package Contents

    • XWC-1000 Wireless Controller (includes rack mount kit and power cord)
    • XAP-1510 Access Points (2)
    • PoE Injectors (2)

    Before You Begin Installation

    • AP Firmware: if using APs other than those included in the kit, ensure firmware is v5 or newer (see luxul.com/ap-upgrade).
    • Controller setup sequence: set up the XWC-1000 Wireless Controller before powering on the APs. Once logged into the Controller, the Setup Wizard will prompt you when it's time to add APs. A DHCP server is required on the network.
    • Accessibility: once an AP is managed by the XWC-1000, its standalone web interface functionality is reduced. To switch an AP between Controller-managed and standalone modes, restore it to factory default.
    • Firmware updates: the XWC-1000 automatically checks for firmware updates for itself and compatible APs, but requires internet access to do so. It will still operate offline, just without update checks.

    1. Physical Installation

The XWC-1000 and XAP-1510 are designed for simple installation. XAP-1510 APs can be mounted on a ceiling, wall, or placed on a desktop/shelf. The XWC-1000 can be rack-mounted or placed on a horizontal surface.

Caution: attach the rubber feet to the AP mount and attach the mount to the AP before flat-surface placement, to avoid overheating and failure.

Connecting devices: the XWC-1000 Wireless Controller connects directly to the network. The XAP-1510 APs connect to the network via the included PoE Injectors or an 802.3at-compliant PoE switch.

    AP Placement Guidance

Place APs for adequate coverage without excessive overlap. Adjacent APs should overlap enough that a client sees both the currently-connected AP and the next-nearest AP. Ideally, roaming clients should see -60 to -70 dBm signal strength from two overlapping APs at the midway point between them. Consider using Ekahau HeatMapper (ekahau.com) to help plan placement — see luxul.com/ap-placement and luxul.com/how-to-videos for more.

    2. Preparing for Access — IP Addressing

If your network already uses a 192.168.0.X scheme and your computer shares that range, skip directly to "Getting Connected" below.

Otherwise, temporarily change your computer's IP address so it's on the same subnet as the Wireless Controller. See luxul.com/ip-addressing for OS-specific instructions.

Ensure a DHCP server is present on the network, and that all Luxul APs and the XWC-1000 share the same subnet.

    3. Getting Connected

Open a web browser and enter the Wireless Controller's default IP address to access the Setup Wizard.

    Default IP 192.168.0.19
    Username admin
    Password admin

Caution: if another device on the network already uses 192.168.0.19, temporarily disconnect/reconfigure that device, or manually configure the Controller with a different address on a separate isolated network.

    4. Wireless Controller Configuration

Follow the built-in Setup Wizard to create a configuration profile — it will automatically configure and manage all available APs on the same network. You can add or remove APs from the managed profile at any time. See luxul.com/smart-tips for setup and configuration best practices.

    5. Hardware Operation — Wireless Controller

    Front-Panel LED Color

Use the switch on the rear panel of the XWC-1000 to toggle the Power and System front-panel LEDs between green and blue, to match the equipment in your rack.

    Resetting the Controller

    • Reset/Reboot: use a paper clip to briefly press and release the Reset button on the rear panel. The front panel LEDs go dark once released, then the System LED blinks slowly while rebooting.
    • Restore Factory Defaults: press and hold the Reset button for at least 5 seconds. The System LED blinks quickly to indicate factory reset, goes dark briefly, then blinks slowly while the controller boots.
    • Normal Operation: the System LED blinks like a heartbeat (blink-blink-pause) when operating normally.

Caution: holding the Reset button restores the Wireless Controller to factory default and removes any custom configuration.

    5. Hardware Operation — Wireless Access Points

    LED Indicators

    • Green Power LED (ON): the XAP-1510 is working normally.
    • Power LED (OFF): AP is not receiving power, or the LED has been turned off in the web interface.
    • Power LED (blinking): AP is booting.
    • Two blue LEDs: indicate the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks are configured and broadcasting.

    Reset Button

Located underneath the mount, marked RESET.

    • To reboot: with the AP powered on, press and release the Reset button.
    • To restore factory defaults: with the AP powered on, press and hold the Reset button for at least 5 seconds — the LED will flash rapidly and the AP resets to factory defaults.

Caution: holding the Reset button will restore the AP to factory default and remove any custom configuration.

    PoE Injector

If the green ON LED is illuminated, the injector is receiving power. If the ON LED is not lit, check the injector's power connection.
