    Quick install guide for the Luxul XMS-7048P — a 52-port stackable Gigabit PoE+ L2/L3 managed switch, covering rack/desktop setup, cabling, IP configuration, and LED status indicators.

    Overview

    The XMS-7048P is a 52-port stackable Gigabit PoE+ L2/L3 managed switch supporting 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet (10/100 half/full-duplex, 1000 Mbps full-duplex). Ports 1–48 are PoE+ and enabled by default; ports 49 and 50 are Gigabit Ethernet only (non-PoE). The switch includes two 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports in addition to the 50 RJ-45 ports.

    Physical Installation

    Rack Mounting

    1. Using the included screws, attach the mounting ears to each side of the switch.
    2. Mount the switch in the rack with the LEDs facing outward; ensure it's level and properly secured.

    Desktop Setup

    For desktop use, apply the included rubber feet to the bottom of the switch.

    Connecting Ethernet and Power

    Use one of the 50 Ethernet ports to connect the switch to any Ethernet-enabled device (servers, routers, other switches) — no crossover cable is necessary.

    Connect the included power cable to a surge-protected outlet; the AC input socket is on the rear panel. The built-in power supply supports 100–240VAC at 50/60Hz. The rear panel also has a redundant power supply (RPS) connector for an external power supply (requires an appropriate RPS cable, sold separately).

    Network cabling: Luxul recommends CAT5, CAT5e, or CAT6 UTP. For best performance and stable 1000 Mbps transmission, use CAT6 shielded twisted pair.

    • Caution: Multiple uplink channels can create loops resulting in network failure — ensure only one uplink channel exists between switches or between the XMS-7048P and a router.
    • Note: Port LEDs may take a moment to initialize on power-up — this is normal.
    • Note: The XMS-7048P has an internal 740W power supply. Do not exceed 25.5W per port or 740W combined PoE consumption across all connected devices.

    Preparing for Access — IP Addressing

    If your network uses a 192.168.0.X address scheme and your computer shares a similar address, skip directly to Access and Setup below.

    Note: If another device on your network already uses 192.168.0.4, temporarily reassign or remove that device while configuring the switch.

    If your network uses a different address scheme, set a temporary static IP on your configuration computer within the 192.168.0.X range, with the gateway/router address set to 192.168.0.4 (the switch's default IP).

    Access and Setup

    1. Connect your computer to the XMS-7048P via Ethernet cable, then power on the switch.
    2. Open a web browser and enter the switch's default IP: 192.168.0.4
    3. Log in with Username: admin / Password: admin
    4. Use the menu items on the left to view/modify configuration (setup, IP configuration/routing, PoE, VLANs, Spanning Tree, Stacking) — see the Quick Setup Guide at Luxul.com for detailed instructions.
    5. When finished, return your computer's IP configuration to normal (typically "Obtain Automatically/DHCP").

    Hardware Operation

    Front Panel

    Includes 50 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports, two 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports, System/Link/PoE status LEDs, a Mode/Reset button, and an RJ-45 console port.

    Rear Panel

    Standard AC power input plus a redundant power supply (RPS) connector for an external power supply.

    LED Indicators

    Note: At startup, port LEDs flash briefly during a self-test.

    Mode/Reset Button

    Tapping the Mode/Reset button briefly switches the port indicators between displaying port link speed and PoE status.

    • To reboot/reset the switch: With the switch powered on, press the Reset button for approximately 3 seconds until Link/Act and PoE LEDs both light, then release. Caution: Do not hold for more than 4 seconds, or it may erase all settings and restore factory defaults.
    • To restore default settings: Press and hold the Reset button approximately 8 seconds until Link/Act and PoE LEDs turn off, then release — the switch restores factory defaults and reboots. Once the System LED starts flashing again, the switch is running with factory defaults. Caution: This removes any/all custom configuration.
