    Full text manual (for reference)

Instruction manual for the La Crosse Alerts Add-On Remote Water Detector & Temperature/Humidity Monitor (Model D012.104.E1) — a wireless sensor that detects water leaks and monitors ambient temperature/humidity, sending early-warning text and email alerts via the La Crosse Alerts Gateway.

    Overview

Frozen pipes that crack and burst damage a quarter-million properties every year. The La Crosse Alerts Remote Water Detector provides early-warning alerts of a water leak before it causes extensive damage, and monitors temperature/humidity levels that could indicate frozen-pipe risk or mold growth. Water damage can originate almost anywhere — frozen or broken pipes, dishwasher/washing-machine leaks, roof or basement leaks, foundation cracks, sump pump overflow, or weather-related flooding.

The wireless sensor transmits water status, temperature, and humidity to a La Crosse Alerts Gateway (sold separately, not included) within a 200 ft. wireless range. The Gateway connects to your existing network router and uploads readings to your account at lacrossealerts.com, where you can monitor from a smartphone, tablet, or computer and set custom email/text alerts.

    Monitoring Use Cases

    • Home, second home, office, or rental property
    • Kitchens, baths, laundry rooms, pool rooms
    • Utility sinks, sumps, and water heaters
    • Basements, garages, attics
    • Near aquariums and terrariums
    • Greenhouses and farms

    Package Contents (D012.104.E1)

    1. Wireless water detector with ambient temperature/humidity monitor (TX70U-IT)
    2. H2O water sensor on 6 ft. detachable cable (D000.104) detecting WET/DRY conditions
    3. Mounting hardware
    4. Instruction manual
    5. Activation Key Card (required for setup — do not discard)

Additional equipment needed (not included): Two fresh AAA 1.5V alkaline batteries; two-sided tape as needed; an existing La Crosse Alerts Internet Gateway (with AC adapter and LAN cable); a browser with high-speed internet; and a network router.

    Components

    • TX70U-IT Wireless Water Detector / Ambient Sensor — displays ambient temperature and humidity (Channel 1). Weather-resistant case (not waterproof); wall-hanging or free-standing; supports up to 5 sensors per gateway; 200 ft. wireless range.
    • D000.104 Water Sensor, 6 ft. detachable cable — detects presence/absence of water and displays WET/DRY status (Channel 2). Can be plugged/unplugged from the main sensor case at any time without resetting.

    Setup & Activation

    1. Begin setup near your existing network router and a computer with high-speed internet access.
    2. Unpack the package and insert the H2O sensor cord into the TX70U-IT water detector.
    3. Locate the Activation Key Card for setup instructions and the Activation Key (required to activate the sensor — keep it for reference).
    4. Visit lacrossealerts.com with your Activation Key Card to create your account and activate the product.

The included Activation Key provides 1 year of Enhanced Service (early-warning text/email alerts) plus 4 additional years of Basic Service (standard remote monitoring). Lost your Activation Key Card? Contact La Crosse support at lacrossetechnology.com/support/alerts or (608) 785-7920.

    Placement & Mounting

Place the H2O sensor on the dry floor or against a wall near your foundation, water heater, sump, plumbing, washer, aquarium, or dishwasher to monitor for leaks. Important: test the sensor in the chosen location for at least 1 hour and confirm readings at lacrossealerts.com before permanently mounting; move closer to the Gateway if signal is lost.

    • Floor placement: place the H2O sensor circuit-board-down on the dry floor within range of the water detector (it will sit â…›" off the floor in this position).
    • Wall placement: place the H2O sensor against the wall with the edge touching the floor, within range of the detector.
    • Secure the sensor with the included screws/anchors or two-sided tape (not included); loosely coil and secure the 6 ft. cable with a twist tie to avoid tripping hazards.
    • Mounting the water detector to a wall: remove the mounting bracket, position it at the desired location, mark through the 2 holes with a pencil, screw the bracket to the surface, then insert the detector into the bracket.
    • A table stand option is also available — attach the bracket to the bottom/top of the detector and place on a flat surface.

    Important Setup & Operation Notes

    • Keep the water detector/temp-humidity case in a dry, shaded area away from direct sun (causes incorrect readings). Fog/mist won't harm it, but direct rain must be avoided.
    • Extreme humidity may temporarily disrupt data; the case should not be submerged in water.
    • The H2O sensor on 6 ft. cable is not for use in a pool or hot tub where chemicals may cause malfunction.
    • Wireless range is 200 ft. in open air; each obstruction (wall, floor, ceiling) roughly halves the range. Metal, stucco, and some glass can reduce range by Âľ or more.
    • Readings update every 12 seconds on the LCD; the new measurement is reported to your account at intervals you select online.

    Cleaning & Maintenance

    • Clean the H2O sensor circuit board with clean water and a soft cloth; replace two-sided tape after cleaning to maintain adhesion.
    • Clean the water detector and sensor with a soft, damp cloth — no solvents or scouring agents.
    • Do not submerge the water detector case; avoid kinking the 6 ft. cable and secure it to avoid tripping hazards.
    • Remove low-powered batteries promptly to avoid leakage/damage. Do not open the casing — this invalidates the warranty; contact La Crosse for repairs.

    Battery Replacement

    1. Slide the battery cover down to remove it.
    2. Install 2x AAA batteries observing correct polarity (they fit tightly — make sure they don't spring free).
    3. Do not mix old and new batteries, or mix alkaline/lithium/standard/rechargeable types.
    4. Slide the battery cover back up and check it's securely fitted.

The low-battery icon appears on the LCD, and you'll receive an email/text alert, when battery power is low — change batteries immediately. The LED turns on briefly after changing batteries, then off to save power. Stored sensor data is not affected by a battery change.

    Measurement Log Download

Once the sensor is activated and building a log, data can be downloaded as a CSV file (view with Microsoft Excel, Google Docs, or similar).
