Lorex Edge LH310 Series — Easy Connect (Yoics) Internet Remote Monitoring Guide

Installation guide for Lorex Easy Connect (Yoics) internet remote monitoring on the Lorex Edge LH310 Series DVR. Yoics is an online service that lets you connect to and manage your Lorex DVR remotely without router configuration.

What Is Yoics Easy Connect?

Yoics is an online service that allows you to connect and manage your Lorex devices online without router configuration. Register with Yoics to remotely view your cameras on your DVR from anywhere in the world. Yoics is designed for instant remote viewing and times out after 15-30 minutes to conserve bandwidth.

Intended Use: Yoics Easy Connect is designed for homes and small businesses without a corporate network infrastructure. If it isn't compatible with your environment, refer to the standard instruction manual for internet remote viewing via the remote viewing software instead.

Software Compatibility

• Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7
• Internet Explorer 6 or later ONLY — Firefox, Safari, and other browsers are not supported

Enabling Easy Connect — Step 1: Upgrade Firmware

Prep the USB flash drive (must be formatted using the DVR — this erases all content on the drive):

1. Insert a USB flash drive into the DVR while it's powered on.
2. Click Menu to open the Main Menu window.
3. Click Backup, then click Format Device, then click Yes to begin formatting.
4. Remove the USB flash drive once formatting is complete.

Download the firmware from www.lorexcctv.com — search for LH3xx (matching your model number, e.g. LH314) and download the latest firmware. Note: 4-channel firmware differs from 8/16-channel firmware. Extract the firmware to the USB flash drive (not into Pictures or Movies). Firmware files end in .rom; the 8 & 16-channel firmware version at time of writing was 1.30.03_18712 or later.

Upgrade the DVR:

1. Power down the DVR by unplugging it.
2. Insert the USB flash drive.
3. Power the DVR back on — it will detect the flash drive and automatically begin the firmware upgrade.
4. Click Yes to begin the upgrade and wait for it to finish.
5. Power down the DVR, remove the USB flash drive, then power it back on.

Step 2: Enable Easy Connect on the DVR

1. Click Menu, then click the LAN icon in the bottom-right corner of the main menu.
2. Click Easy Connect in the LAN menu to open the Easy Connect window.
3. Under Yoics Enable, a blue "O" indicates Yoics is enabled; a red "X" indicates disabled. Use the mouse scroll wheel to toggle.

Note: Only click "Restart Yoics" if you have a connection problem — changes take effect after roughly 10 minutes, after which you should re-login to your Yoics account.

Step 3: Register for a Yoics Account

1. Connect your DVR to a router that's connected to the internet before registering (this lets Yoics auto-detect your DVR upon activation).
2. Go to http://lorex.yoics.com (no "www") and register for an account.
3. After logging in, Yoics will detect your device — click "Complete Registration" to open the "Register New Devices" window. (The DVR must be connected directly to a router via hardwire.)
4. Enter a name for your DVR under "Yoics Device Name" and click "Register Now". Your device will appear under "My Stuff" in the left sidebar.

Note: You do not need to click "Upgrade Now" — the service is provided free of charge.

Connecting to Your DVR via Easy Connect

1. Log in to your Yoics account using Internet Explorer.
2. Click your system's name under "My Stuff" in the left sidebar to connect.
3. An ActiveX toolbar opens — click it, then click "Install ActiveX Control" to continue.
4. Enter your DVR username and password, click LOGIN. A second ActiveX installation prompt appears — click Install to connect to your DVR.

Note: Browser settings may need to be adjusted to allow ActiveX installation. The connection times out after 15 minutes to conserve bandwidth — simply re-login to resume remote viewing.
