Linear LA-P — Extended Range Antenna Assembly Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for the Linear LA-P extended range antenna assembly, for use with the DVS-2400 security console.

Overview

The LA-P is an extended range antenna assembly designed for use with Linear's DVS-2400 Security Console (DXS format). It replaces the console's factory antenna wires with a higher-performance whip antenna to extend wireless range.

Installation Steps

1. Loosen the antenna terminal screws, then remove the two white antenna wires from the console and discard them.
2. Connect the antenna whip to the antenna base.
3. Insert the LA-P antenna assembly into the slot at the top rear of the housing and snap it into place.
4. Route the two white wires as follows: one across the top of the case above the battery compartment, and one down the back of the case (through the wire clip).
5. Route the coax cable toward the antenna terminals.
6. Connect the center conductor of the coax to antenna terminal #1, and the shield to antenna terminal #2.
7. Secure the coax cable to the circuit board by looping the zip-tie through the two holes in the board and around the cable.
8. Test the system for proper operation.

Note: The antenna base connector may also be used to connect a longer 75 Ω coax cable and a remotely mounted antenna.

Important Notes on Radio Controls

• For U.S. installations only: radios must comply with FCC Rules and Regulations as Part 15 devices, which limits transmitter power and range.
• A receiver cannot respond to more than one transmitted signal at a time, and may be blocked by radio signals near its operating frequency regardless of code settings.
• Changes or modifications to the device may void FCC compliance.
• Infrequently used radio links should be tested regularly to protect against undetected interference or fault.
• A general knowledge of radio and its limitations should be gained prior to installation, and communicated to end users.

Warranty

This Linear product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for twelve (12) months from the Warranty Expiration Date labeled on the product. This warranty extends only to wholesale customers who buy direct from Linear or through Linear's normal distribution channels — Linear does not warrant this product to consumers, who should inquire with their selling dealer. There are no obligations or liabilities for consequential damages arising from use or performance of this product. All implied warranties are valid only until the Warranty Expiration Date. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied.
