    Technical bulletin (TB2013-004) for the Linear nuLinc UC330-VC CDMA Cellular Communicator: alarm panel connections and programming for Ademco Vista, GE Security Concord 4, GE Security NX, and DSC Power Series panels.

    Overview

    The nuLinc UC330-VC CDMA Cellular Communicator functions as a phone line replacement for alarm panel Central Station reporting. It replaces the traditional wired telephone land-line servicing the alarm panel with a wireless device that communicates over the cellular network. To the alarm panel, the communicator simulates a standard telephone line and central station receiver — supporting dial tone, handshake, report acknowledgement, and kiss-off signals — and sends alarm panel reports through the cellular network to a LinearLinc authorized central station. It also supports remote/mobile control: arming and disarming the alarm panel, and viewing armed status.

    Connections

    The communicator requires four connections to the alarm panel:

    • POWER — receives 12 VDC power from the alarm panel's auxiliary power output or a direct connection to the alarm panel's backup battery.
    • TELCO — the alarm panel's ring and tip terminals (which would normally connect to a land-line telephone jack) connect to the communicator's PSTN input, for two-way cellular communication between the alarm panel and central station.
    • ARM/DISARM KEYSWITCH INPUT — an alarm panel keyswitch input, or a zone programmed as an arm/disarm zone, connects to the communicator for arming/disarming.
    • ARMED STATUS OUTPUT — an alarm panel output programmed to indicate armed status connects to the communicator, for monitoring the panel's arming status.

    General Programming

    • Dialing Format — set the alarm panel to dial out using DTMF tone dialing and report in Ademco Contact ID or SIA format.
    • Arm/Disarm Keyswitch Input — set an available alarm panel zone to arm/disarm keyswitch operation; recommended setting is normally open and momentary (other configurations are also supported).
    • Armed Status Output — set an alarm panel output to follow the system's arm/disarm status (positive or negative signal while armed is supported).
    • Away / Stay Modes — disable any alarm panel setting that automatically switches the system from Away Mode to Stay or Home Mode.

    Panel-Specific Programming

    Ademco Vista Panel

    Requirements: Available hardwire zone that is not doubled; available output terminal (suggest Output #18, green wire).

    Arm/Disarm Keyswitch Input (Yellow Wire): Determine which terminal of the zone is +12V (check the panel diagram, labeled High or Zone XX, or use a voltmeter). Connect the Yellow wire from the UC300-VC Y terminal to that terminal. An EOL resistor is not required (optional, for wiring supervision, across UC300-VC Y & B terminals). Program the zone as Normally Open at Field *56, Zone type = 77 (Keyswitch).

    Armed Status Output (Green Wire): Use alarm panel Output #18 (or #17). Connect UC300-VC G terminal to the programmed Output #18. Program via Installer Code + 800: Field *79 Output #18 Normally Low = 0 (No); Field *80 Output Function 01 → Zone Type 22 (Disarming), Output 18, Action 0 (Off); Output Function 02 → Zone Type 20 (Arm Stay), Output 18, Action 2 (Stay Closed); Output Function 03 → Zone Type 21 (Arm Away), Output 18, Action 2 (Stay Closed). Disable automatic armed stay at Field *84, set to 0.

    GE Security Concord 4 Panel

    Requirements: Available hardwire zone that is not doubled; available output terminal (suggest Output #2).

    Arm/Disarm Keyswitch Input (Yellow Wire): Determine the +12V terminal for the zone. Connect the Yellow wire from Y terminal to that terminal, and add an EOL resistor across UC300-VC Y & B terminals. Add the hardwire zone as a Sensor # via System Programming >> Sensors >> Learn Sensor (shortcut 080), choose Partition 1 and Group 28, trip the sensor via the config-mode jumper, record the Sensor #, then define it as a keyswitch via System Programming >> Security >> Partition 1 >> Keyswitch Sensor (shortcut 0014), and set Keyswitch Style to Transition (shortcut 0015). Note: transition-state keyswitch is officially supported; contact Linear Technical Services if unavailable.

    Armed Status Output (Green Wire): Use alarm panel Output #2. Connect G terminal to Output #2. Program via System Programming >> Onboard Options >> Output Programming >> Output 2 >> Partition Assign (shortcut 11110), set to 1; then Output 2 >> Configuration (shortcut 11111), enter 00903 (009 = armed stay or away states, 03 = activate output continuously).

    GE Security NX Series Panels

    Requirements: Available hardwire zone that is not doubled; available auxiliary output terminal.

    Arm/Disarm Keyswitch Input (Yellow Wire): Determine the +12V terminal for the zone. Connect the Yellow wire; do not use an EOL resistor. In programming mode, go to location 25, and program a "11" at the segment matching the hardwire zone to define it as a keyswitch-type zone. Disable automatic switching from Away to Stay Mode at location 23, Segment 4, option 2.

    Armed Status Output (Green Wire): Use the programmed alarm panel auxiliary output. Connect G terminal to Auxiliary #1 output. Select the auxiliary output number's programming location (AUX1=47, AUX2=48, AUX3=49, AUX4=50), and in that location program a 21 in segment 1 and a 0 in segment 2.

    DSC Power Series Panels

    Requirements: Available hardwire zone that is not doubled; available output terminal (suggest Output #1).

    Arm/Disarm Keyswitch Input (Yellow Wire): Determine the +12V terminal for the zone. Connect the Yellow wire; an EOL resistor is required across Y & B terminals. Only momentary keyswitch arming is supported. Program Section 001 (Partition 1): scroll to the hardwire zone and input type 22 (momentary keyswitch). In Section 021, set Option 6 to OFF so the keyswitch can always disarm the system. In Section 023, set Option 8 to ON so the keyswitch always arms in away mode.

    Armed Status Output (Green Wire): Use alarm panel Output #1 (or #2). Connect G terminal to PGM1. Program Section 009, set Input 05 to activate output when armed.

    GE Security Concord Express Series

    Refer to the Concord 4 instructions above. The keyswitch can only arm partition 1 due to panel support limitations.
