Instruction manual for the Linear Wireless Digital Programmable Keypad (Model 104078) — a wireless keypad for operating garage door and gate controls with programmable PIN codes for up to four separate entrances.

Overview

The Wireless Digital Programmable Keypad is a high quality product with programming capabilities for four separate entrances. Because of its programmable nature, it's important to follow the programming instructions carefully.

Terms Used in This Manual

• PIN: The Personal Identification Number you choose to operate your door or gate controls. The Primary PIN becomes the only number that can be used to re-program your system after programming — it is your protection against unauthorized reprogramming.
• Factory Default: Settings on your keypad made at the factory.
• LED: Light Emitting Diode, or indicator light on your keypad.

Features and Indicators

• Factory Default Setting: If you forget your PIN, restore the keypad to factory default settings by pressing 999, #, 999, # — all codes return to original factory settings, but you must reprogram afterward.
• Reset/On-Off Switch: Turns the keypad and light system on, allowing operation and visibility of keys in the dark. The keypad stays lit for 20 seconds after the last key press. Also cancels programming mode if you make a mistake.
• Key Press Indicator (green LED): Lights whenever a key is pressed, indicating valid entry.
• Signal Sent Indicator (red LED): Lights whenever a valid PIN is entered, indicating a radio signal was sent to your garage door or gate operator.
• Incorrect Entry Indicator: Both red and green LEDs light simultaneously if an incorrect PIN is entered — reset the system and enter a valid PIN.
• Single Button Mode: After entering a valid PIN, the number/letter keys remain active for 20 seconds. Pressing any key sends another signal, allowing your operator to stop or reverse direction depending on the model.
• Low Battery Indicator: If keypad lights flash on and off, the battery needs replacing. Open the hatch on the lower right side of the unit, remove the battery, and replace with a standard 9-volt transistor battery.
• Non-Volatile Memory: Battery replacement does not require reprogramming — just install a new battery and the keypad is ready to operate.

Installation Instructions

Warning: Disconnect power to the operator before and during installation of this accessory. Do not reconnect power until instructed. Ensure the doorway is clear before testing the unit.

1. Choose a convenient location that doesn't interfere with the door/gate's normal operation, such as the door jamb or an outside wall adjacent to it. Test your door first to check for interference, especially with outward-swinging doors.
2. Choose your mounting hardware — the provided screws are adequate for mounting into wood or similar material.
3. Drill a 3/32 in. pilot hole to a depth of 1-1/2 in. for the bottom mounting screw. Insert the screw, leaving the head exposed about 1/8 in. from the wall. Slide the keypad over the screw and position it vertically. Mark the position of the top hole, remove the keypad, drill another 3/32 in. pilot hole to a depth of 3/4 in., then slip the keypad over the bottom screw and insert the top screw.

Warning: Mount the keypad a minimum of 5 feet above the ground to keep it out of reach of children. A child operating door controls risks injury or death to themselves and others — never allow children to operate any door controls.

Programming Instructions

The keypad requires two specific security codes: the Transmitter Code, which allows the keypad to communicate with the receiver unit on your garage door or gate operator, and your Personal Identification Number (PIN), which activates the system. Guard your PIN carefully — it protects against unauthorized use. The factory default PIN is 1,2,3,4.

The keypad has twelve keys (1–9, 0, plus * and #). Most keys also have letters, allowing a personal keyword instead of a numeric PIN.

Programming the Transmitter Code — Single Button Transmitter

1. Locate your transmitter and open the coding hatch. You'll see a coding switch block numbered 1–9, each set to "+", "0", or "-". Translate these into a numeric code: + = 1, 0 = 2, - = 3.
2. Copy the transmitter code as currently set into the Transmitter Code table (e.g. DIP switch settings of +, 0, +, -, +, 0, +, -, 0 translate to 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 3, 2).
3. Program your keypad: press the ON/Reset button; enter the factory default PIN 1,2,3,4; press key #; press key # again; press key 1; enter the transmitter code you filled in above; press key #.

The transmitter code is now programmed into your keypad.

Programming the Transmitter Code — Dual or Triple Button Transmitter

1. Locate your transmitter and open the coding hatch. You'll see a coding switch block numbered 1–8, each set to "+", "0", or "-" (+ = 1, 0 = 2, - = 3).
2. Copy the transmitter code as currently set into the table (e.g. DIP switch settings of +, 0, +, -, +, 0, +, - translate to 1, 2, 1, 3, 1, 2, 1, 3).
3. Note the "Transmitter Button Code": on a two-button transmitter, the left button code is 1, right is 2; on a three-button transmitter, left is 1, middle is 2, right is 3. Enter the code for the button you'll use to open the gate/door.
4. Program your keypad: press the ON/Reset button; enter the factory default PIN 1,2,3,4; press key #; press key # again; press key 1; enter the transmitter code filled in above; enter the transmitter button code filled in above; press key #.

The transmitter code is now programmed into your keypad.

Programming Your PIN

Change the factory default PIN of 1,2,3,4 to your own private PIN. You may program up to four PIN codes (PIN No. 1–4); the first PIN you program becomes your Primary PIN.

1. Press the ON/RESET button and enter the sequence: factory default PIN (1,2,3,4), #, PIN number (1–4), your new PIN, then repeat your new PIN, followed by #.
2. Check your new setting by entering your new PIN code, followed by * and the door number you wish to activate. The operator should respond.

Note: Do not reveal your Primary PIN code — it is the only number that can be used for reprogramming and is your protection against unauthorized reprogramming of your keypad. If a step fails, press RESET/ON to correct an incorrect key entry and begin programming again.

Operating Instructions

To operate your wireless keypad, press the RESET/ON key to light or reset your keypad. Enter your PIN, followed by the * symbol, then your door number (e.g. PIN 5127, then *, then door 1). Your operator should activate. If not, try again, making sure you're entering the correct PIN. If the operator still fails to activate, a programming error may have occurred — repeat the programming steps in this manual.

Manufacturer's Limited Warranty

Allstar warrants its radio controls to be free from defect in material and workmanship for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase. To obtain service, contact your dealer and obtain return authorization from Allstar before returning any goods. Goods must be returned freight prepaid, with proof of purchase and identification, or they will not be accepted.

This warranty does not cover non-defect damage, damage from unreasonable use, improper installation or care, vandalism, lightning, fire, excessive heat, flood or other acts of God (including misuse, abuse, or alterations, failure to provide reasonable maintenance), labor charges for dismantling or reinstalling a unit, or replacement batteries.

All implied warranties of merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose are disclaimed and excluded. Allstar's liability for breach of warranty, breach of contract, negligence, or strict liability shall not exceed the cost of the product. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from state to state.
