    Installation instructions for the Leviton Wireless Occupancy Sensor product family — the WSS10 Receiver Control Switch, WSC04/WSC15 Wireless Occupancy Sensors, and WSS0S Wireless Remote Switch (single-pole, one-location).

    Overview

    These self-powered wireless products use EnOcean energy-harvesting technology — no batteries required for normal operation (optional AAA batteries or 5-24VDC low-voltage power can be added for dark spaces with insufficient light).

    • WSS10 — Receiver Control Switch. A single switch pad that toggles the relay and its load ON/OFF. Blinks red when a signal is received from a sensor or remote switch. No-neutral version has a minimum load requirement of 25W.
    • WSC04/WSC15 — Wireless Occupancy Sensor(s). Send a signal packet on detecting motion; the receiver keeps the load on while packets keep arriving, then times out and turns off after motion stops.
    • WSS0S — Wireless Remote Switch, for additional switch locations (3-way/4-way) with no wiring needed between switches.

    Power Sources

    • Solar (sensor): Powered by ambient room light via a solar panel; functions within a minute of light exposure. Minimum light requirement: 40 LUX (4FC).
    • Kinetic (remote switch): Powered by the mechanical energy of pressing the switch pad — tested over 50,000 cycles.
    • Battery option: (3) AAA batteries, not included, for areas with insufficient ambient light.
    • Low-voltage option: 5-24VDC connection, recommended for areas with insufficient light for long periods.

    Operating Modes

    • Manual-ON / Auto-Off: Press the button to turn lights ON; the receiver times out and turns lights OFF automatically once the sensor stops sending motion signals.
    • Auto-ON / Auto-Off: The sensor automatically turns lights ON when motion is detected, and the receiver times out and turns OFF once motion stops.
    • 30-second vacancy confirmation: Turns the relay back on if a false OFF is detected.

    Single Pole Wiring

    1. Warning: To avoid fire, shock, or death — turn OFF power at the circuit breaker/fuse and test that power is off before wiring.
    2. Identify your wiring: single pole typically has 4 wires — 1. Line, 2. Neutral, 3. Ground, 4. Load.
    3. Connect the (Hot) wire from the wall box to the black wire on the switch
    4. Connect the (Load) wire to the blue wire on the switch
    5. Connect the (Neutral) wire to the white wire on the switch (No-Neutral models won't have this wire available)

    The WSS10 is intended as a single-pole device only. For multiple-location wiring, use the WSS0S Wireless Remote Switch — no additional wires needed for 3-way/4-way.

    Dip Switch Settings

    Factory settings: WSS10 = Manual On/Auto Off, Walk-through disabled, Time delay = 10 min. WSCxx = Range (PIR sensitivity) = 75%.

    Time-outs: Since the sensor sends a packet only once per minute, the 2-minute setting is a test mode only, not sufficient for normal operation — 10/20/30 min are the practical options (longer is recommended for self-powering in dark spaces).

    Walk-Through Time Delay: Active only in Auto-On/Auto-Off mode with 10/20/30 min timeout. Turns lights OFF quickly (within 2.5 min) if a person enters and leaves before the walk-through timeout of 2.5 minutes — otherwise the Sensor enters normal Occupied Mode with the Dip Switch's timeout duration.

    Learning / Pairing Devices (Programming)

    1. Press and hold the WSS10 switch pad for 15 seconds to enter programming (LED flashes AMBER)
    2. Tap the switch pad to toggle between LEARN mode (1 AMBER flash) and CLEAR mode (2 AMBER flashes)
    3. Press and hold the pad for 5 seconds to enter the selected mode
    4. LEARN: Press the learn button on each sensor (under the front plastic tab) or press the remote switch pad to add it. AMBER LED on for 2 seconds = device learned.
    5. CLEAR: Press and hold the switch pad for more than 5 seconds; LED flashes red to confirm all learned devices cleared.

    LED feedback in learn mode: 1 red flash = no learned devices; 1 green flash = 1 device learned; 2 green flashes = 2 devices; up to 6 devices supported. To un-learn a single device, press its learn button again (GREEN LED for 2 seconds = unlearned). The device exits programming automatically after 15 seconds of inactivity.

    Testing and Mounting

    1. Position all wires to provide room in the wall box for the device
    2. Ensure the word "TOP" faces up on the device strap
    3. Partially screw in mounting screws in the wall box mounting holes
    4. Restore power at the circuit breaker/fuse
    5. Press the pad until the locator light is OFF — lights should turn ON (if not, see Troubleshooting)
    6. Turn OFF power again, complete mounting screws, attach wallplate, and restore power

    Troubleshooting

    • Lights flickering: Lamp has a bad connection, or wires not secured firmly under terminal screws of switch/remote
    • Light doesn't turn ON, Locator LED doesn't turn ON: Circuit breaker/fuse tripped; lamp burned out; lamp Neutral connection not wired

    Cleaning & Maintenance

    Clean with a damp cloth only — do NOT use chemical cleaners.
