    Overview

Frequently asked questions for the Leviton USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Receptacle (Cat. No. T5630 and related models) — a combination device with two Type A USB charging ports plus a 15A-125V tamper-resistant outlet.

    What It Is

The Leviton USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Outlet combines two Type A 2.0/3.0-compatible USB charging ports with one 15A-125V tamper-resistant outlet. It's designed for maximum charging efficiency and can charge up to two USB-powered devices at once while leaving the receptacle free for other power needs.

    Specs & Ratings

    • Combined USB port power: 2.1A / 2100mA
    • Receptacle rating: 15A-125V, NEC Code compliant
    • Fits a standard single or multiple-gang wallbox with a standard wallplate
    • Wiring: installs the same as any other standard receptacle — no special wiring required
    • Can be multi-ganged side-by-side with another Leviton USB Charger/Tamper-Resistant Outlet or any other standard Leviton wiring device
    • Vertical USB port orientation gives extra room for inserting/removing cables, reduces cable stress, and improves aesthetics
    • UL listed 498 & 1310; meets all NEC requirements for tamper-resistant outlets
    • Backed by a 5-year limited warranty

    Charging Behavior

    • A built-in smart chip recognizes the connected device's charging requirements, determines the optimal charge level, and indicates that it's charging — just like the device's original manufacturer charger.
    • If a device doesn't indicate a charge, it may need higher current: switch it to the high-power port (right side) to maximize charging ability. High-current devices like tablets may still charge on the lower-power port, just not at maximum rate (and may not show a charging indicator).
    • Charging time varies by device/battery type; the smart chip is designed to charge faster than comparable products on the market.
    • Charging two tablets at once via USB is not intended or recommended — if two high-power devices are plugged in simultaneously, the charger will shut down to protect them. To charge two tablets, use the high-power USB port plus the TR receptacle instead.
    • This device is for charging only — there are no data transfer capabilities.
    • Compatible for use downstream from a GFCI.
    • Compatible with the Leviton Mobile Charging Station (Cat. No. 47112, available at store.leviton.com).
    • Charges older devices as well as newer ones released after the product's design.
