    Product specifications for the Leviton Series 280 & 420 Structured Media™ Enclosures (Cat. Nos. 47605-28W, 47605-28N, 47605-F28, 47605-42W, 47605-42N & 47605-F42) — larger-capacity distribution enclosures for whole-home voice, data, video, and control wiring.

    Application

    The Series 280 and 420 Structured Media™ enclosures are used to terminate all of the home-run wires from wall outlets and provide a distribution point for voice, data, and video wiring in a residence or multiple dwelling unit. They're ideal for new installations or retrofits — surface-mounted or recessed between wall studs on 16" centers using the provided wood screws for a clean, professionally finished appearance. Install before drywall (recess-mount) or after (surface-mount); the distribution panel(s) and cover go on during the trim-out stage.

    Features & Benefits

    • Bottom cutout accommodates single-gang or full-width AC power modules and Mini/Universal DC power supplies
    • Mounting slots simplify adjustment for different sheetrock depths
    • Sheetrock depth marks (1/2", 5/8", 3/4") on the enclosure for easy alignment
    • Lance slots provide clean cable management within the enclosure
    • Can be surface- or recess-mounted
    • Flush-mount cover overlaps 3/4" to hide possible uneven drywall cuts
    • Ships with a cardboard insert to prevent drywall debris/paint overspray from entering during rough-in
    • Mounting hook on the cover aligns screw holes for easier installation
    • Multiple top/bottom knockouts support conduit up to 2" in diameter
    • Self-healing foam grommets protect cable bundles
    • Holds 1/4, 1/2, and full-width expansion modules, mountable vertically or horizontally

    Important: Recess-mounting should precede drywall installation. SMCs must not be mounted in firewall applications.
