Field termination instructions for the Leviton QuickPort S-Video connector, for in-wall high-quality S-Video runs over UTP cable.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Field termination instructions for the Leviton S-Video QuickPort Connector (40734-*) — enables high-quality S-Video signal transmission over standard UTP cable.

    Overview

This connector transmits S-Video signals at high quality over a maximum distance of 75 feet using standard UTP wire. It features a standard flush-mount S-Video connector on the front and simple, field-terminable 110 IDC contact slots on the rear, and is compatible with Leviton QuickPort wallplates and housings.

    Installation Note

In some QuickPort applications, S-Video connectors may be too wide to insert side by side with other connectors — plan panel layout accordingly.

    Termination Steps

    1. Remove approximately 2" of jacket from the cable.
    2. Note the color codes and connector pin numbers on the label located between the IDC contact slots.
    3. Route the wires for termination, terminating one pair at a time starting from the side of cable entry. Terminating each pair right after placement (rather than all at once) prevents crushing the inside pairs with the punchdown tool. Lay the cable so the jacket touches the edge of the connector as shown in the diagram.
    4. Using a 110-style impact tool set to "low," seat the wires into the IDC slots, keeping wire pair twist as close as possible to the IDC contact (within 1/4" or closer). Use the tool's cutting side to trim excess wire flush with the connector body.
    5. Place the cap over the terminated wires for a secure connection and added strain relief.
    6. Insert the connector assembly into the platform or wallplate, noting the "UP" position of the connector.
