Overview

The Hi-Fi 2 4x4 lets you listen to different audio sources at the same time, at different volume levels, throughout your home — or set all zones to the same source and volume. It can be controlled via the included remote control, an included wall-mounted Volume Source Control (VSC), or the free iOS app.

Main Assembly and Amplifiers

The most compact 4-zone, 160W system on the market. Power output is 20W per channel at 8 ohms. Mounts directly into a Leviton Structured Media Center wiring enclosure at half-width. A variable line-out amplification output is available for zone 1 (in addition to the built-in amps), plus page/mute and system-on jacks.

Volume Source Control (VSC) — Part #95A03-1

A single-gang Decora-style keypad unit with 4 buttons that adjusts volume and controls power and source selection. A white OLED display shows the source name, volume bar chart, bass, treble, balance, and other settings. Includes a routed IR repeater function for use with source-equipment remotes, plus a small hand-held IR remote. Connects to the amp with a single Cat5 cable. Up to 4 VSCs can be added to the main board; 4 come standard with the Hi-Fi 2 4x4.

Remote Input Modules (RIM) — Part #95A04-1 / Bluetooth RIM (BRIM) — Part #95A04-2

4 local inputs on the amplifier board support broadcast, Internet, satellite radio tuners, and other sources — either local at the amplifier or remote via a RIM connected over Cat5. 2 RIMs come standard with the Hi-Fi 2 4x4 for the most popular remote inputs (home theater, kitchen TV, iPod dock, den entertainment center); more are available separately. Up to 4 RIMs can be added to the main board.

The Bluetooth RIM adds wireless connectivity for streaming or stored music from a smartphone, tablet, or computer, and also includes an input module for wired devices like radio tuners and DVD changers.

HAI Dock

Provides access to music on an iPod Touch or iPhone over a wired or wireless network. An iPod can be played in any audio zone connected to a Hi-Fi 2 system, pulling song/album/artist metadata and browsing podcasts and playlists from a touchscreen. Plug into a RIM or BRIM — the device is shared and charges while docked.

App for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch

Free stand-alone apps (no subscription fees) provide total control over the audio experience — select a music source for a single room or the entire home, adjust volume, change tracks, and tweak bass/treble/balance.

Need More Capacity?

The 4x4 system provides a maximum of four zones and four sources. If more capability is required, the larger Hi-Fi 2 8 Zone, 8 Source system provides 8 zones and 8 sources, expandable to 16 zones and 8 sources.

Connections

• Controller (optional): Connects to controller or other serial port device — select zone and source, and control volume and power, from an OmniTouch Touchscreen or via controller program.
• Local audio inputs: Attach audio sources located in the same location as the Hi-Fi 2 4x4 system.
• Variable output: Attach additional amplification to Zone 1.
• Page input: When triggered, all zones turn on at the preset paging volume and switch to source 4.
• System on output: When any audio zone turns on, this output activates an auxiliary amplifier equipped with a voltage trigger.
• Ethernet network port: Communicate with IP devices on the network; used by the free iOS app.
• Zone speakers: Total of 4 on the main board. Use 8-ohm speakers with 16-gauge, 4-conductor stranded speaker wire (suggested for neat installation).
