Installation instructions for the Leviton Decora Digital DDS15-BD Universal Electronic Switch and Program Timer with Bluetooth.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Installation instructions for the Leviton Decora Digital DDS15-BD Universal Electronic Switch and Program Timer — a Bluetooth®-enabled single-pole or 3-way switch, 120/277VAC, with app-based scheduling.

    Overview

The Decora® Digital Switch with Bluetooth® Technology works with the free Leviton Decora Digital Dimmer & Timer app (Android and iOS) for schedules, sleep timers, and advanced settings. It combines a standard wall switch with a countdown/programmable timer switch in one device, and is not compatible with standard 3-way or 4-way switches — 3-way applications require Leviton's Decora Digital DD0SR-DL or DD0SR-10 coordinating/matching remotes.

    Ratings

    • 1800W Incandescent (120V)
    • 15A Fluorescent (120V) / 6A Fluorescent (277V)
    • 5A, 600W LED/CFL (120V)
    • 15A Resistive (120V)
    • 1/2 HP Motor (120V)

    Features

    • Switch ON/OFF with ON/OFF LED indicator
    • Three-way communication (with coordinating/matching remotes)
    • Ease of installation — no new wiring required
    • Interchangeable color frames (ships with white; snaps off/on)

    Safety Warnings

    • To avoid fire, shock, or death: turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse and test that power is off before wiring.
    • Do not install to control a receptacle.
    • Install per local electrical codes; consult an electrician if unsure.
    • Use only one DDS15 switch per multi-location circuit, with up to 9 coordinating remotes (DD0SR-10) or up to 4 matching remotes (DD0SR-DL).
    • Maximum wire length from switch to all installed remotes: 300 ft (90m).
    • Recommended minimum wall box depth: 2-3/4".
    • Use with copper or copper-clad wire only.

    Wiring Overview

    Single Pole (4 wires)

    1. Line (Hot)
    2. Neutral
    3. Ground
    4. Load

    3-Way (5 wires)

    1. Line or Load (see wiring notes)
    2. Neutral
    3. Ground
    4. First Traveler (note wire color)
    5. Second Traveler (note wire color)

Important: For 3-way applications, one screw terminal on the old switch being removed is usually a different color (black) or labeled "Common." Tag that wire with electrical tape and identify it as the common (Line or Load) in both the switch and remote wall boxes.

    Terminal Reference

    Terminal Connects To
Green Ground (green or bare copper)
BK (Black) Line Hot (single pole), or First Traveler (3-way switch side)
RD (Red) Load (single pole) — 3-way/more applications only
    WH (White) Neutral
YL/RD (Yellow/Red) Second Traveler — 3-way/more applications only; keep the red insulating label affixed for single-pole use

    Single-Pole Wiring

    • Green/bare copper → Green terminal
    • Line Hot → "BK" terminal
    • Load → "RD" terminal
    • Line Neutral → "WH" terminal
    • Leave the red insulating label on the "YL/RD" terminal (or cover with electrical tape if missing)

3-Way with DD0SR-10 Coordinating Remote (no LED)

Switch (wall box with line hot): Green → Green; tagged Line Hot (common) → "BK"; First Traveler → "RD"; remove red label from "YL/RD" then wire Second Traveler there; Line Neutral → "WH".

Coordinating Remote (wall box with load connection): "BK" and "RD" terminals unused (tighten screws anyway); Green → Green; Load (tagged) → First Traveler terminal; Second Traveler → "YL/RD"; remove white label from "WH" then wire Line Neutral there.

3-Way with DD0SR-DL Matching Remote (with LED)

Matching Remote (wall box with line hot): "RD" terminal unused; Green → Green; tagged Line Hot + First Traveler → "BK"; Second Traveler (from switch) → "YL/RD"; Line Neutral → "WH".

Switch (wall box with load connection): Green → Green; tagged Load → "RD"; First Traveler Line Hot → "BK"; remove red label from "YL/RD" then wire Second Traveler there; Line Neutral → "WH".

    Installation Steps

    1. Turn off power at the circuit breaker or fuse; verify power is off before wiring.
    2. Identify your wiring application (single pole vs. 3-way) — if the wall box wiring doesn't match either configuration, consult an electrician.
    3. Prepare and connect wires using side-wire terminal screws or back-wire openings (accepts #14–12 AWG solid copper wire only). Strip wire ends straight, remove insulation per the strip gauge (5/8" / 1.6 cm).
    4. Wire per the single-pole or 3-way diagram above, depending on your application.
    5. Test the switch before mounting: position wires to fit the wall box, orient "TOP" upward on the device strap, partially screw in mounting screws, dress wires with a bend to relieve stress, restore power, then press the pad until the locator light turns off — the lights should turn on. If not, see Troubleshooting.
    6. Mount the switch: turn power off again, tighten mounting screws into the wall box, and attach the wallplate.
    7. Restore power at the circuit breaker or fuse. Installation is complete.

    Operation

    • The locator light illuminates when the load is OFF, to help find the switch in the dark.
    • Turn ON from OFF: tap the top of the rocker.
    • Turn OFF from ON: tap the bottom of the rocker.
    • After a power outage, the switch returns to its last setting before the interruption.
    • Cleaning: use a damp cloth only — no chemical cleaners.

    Pairing & App Control (Bluetooth®)

    1. Download the "Leviton Decora Digital Switch & Timer" app (Google Play Store for Android, App Store/iTunes for iPhone).
    2. Follow on-screen instructions to pair your mobile device with the switch.

    App Controls

    • On/Off: turns the switch on and off
    • Schedule: creates distinct ON/OFF events by time and day
    • Sleep Timer: sets a countdown to turn the switch off

    Advanced Settings

    • Randomized Scheduled Events: cycles lights on/off for a "lived-in" look while away
    • Hide Status LED: turns the status LED off
    • DST Offset Hours/Minutes: adjusts sunrise/sunset time calculations

    Troubleshooting

    Symptom Likely Cause
Lights flickering Bad lamp connection, or wires not secured firmly under terminal screws of switch/remote
Light doesn't turn on, locator LED doesn't turn on Tripped circuit breaker/fuse; burned-out lamp; neutral not wired to switch; lamp neutral not connected
Remote doesn't operate lights Total wire length exceeds 300 ft (90m); incorrect wiring
