Leviton 47611-GT4 — Four-Port Internet Gateway Quick-Start Guide

Quick-Start Guide for the Leviton 47611-GT4 10/100 Mbps Four-Port Internet Gateway — an economical SOHO router designed to mount in a Leviton Structured Media™ Center (SMC) and connect a home network to the Internet via an external DSL/Cable modem.

Important Safety Instructions

• Never install communications wiring or components during a lightning storm.
• Never install in wet locations unless components are specifically rated for it.
• Never touch uninsulated wires or terminals unless the wiring has been disconnected at the network interface.
• Do not use near water, or push objects into product openings — risk of dangerous voltage contact.

Pre-Installation Checklist

• A network interface card (NIC) installed in your computer
• An external Cable or DSL modem with an RJ-45 port
• 4x Category 5e patch cords with RJ-45 connectors
• A Leviton Category 5e Voice and Data Module (PN# 47605-C5) in the SMC
• At least 2 Category 5e data connectors wired back to the Voice and Data Module, labeled "A" and "B"
• An active Internet connection/ISP, plus specific ISP protocol info (PPPoE, Dynamic IP, or Fixed IP) and login credentials
• A web browser installed on your computer

Installation

1. Align the mounting pins with the enclosure's grid holes. With plungers in the "out" position, press the unit into place, then secure by pushing the plungers in.
2. Complete the pre-installation checklist and confirm connectors "A" and "B" are wired correctly.
3. Shut down and power off your computer and modem.
4. Unplug the modem's patch cord from your computer's Ethernet port; connect the modem to data connector "A" instead.
5. Use a patch cord to connect your computer's Ethernet port to data connector "B".
6. At the SMC, connect the Gateway's WAN port to Voice and Data Module port "A" (linked to the modem).
7. Connect one of the Gateway's numbered ports (1–4) to Voice and Data Module port "B" (linked to the computer).
8. To add up to 3 more computers/peripherals, connect the Gateway's remaining numbered ports to additional Voice & Data Module ports.
9. Reconnect power to the modem, confirm broadband service is active, then power on the Gateway and restart your computer.

Configuring the Gateway

1. In a web browser, go to http://192.168.0.1 (default Gateway IP — connects to the firmware, not the Internet).
2. At the login prompt, leave the username blank and enter the password leviton (lowercase, case-sensitive).
3. Click OK, then select "Setup Wizard" under the Home folder in the left frame.
4. Follow the wizard, using your ISP connection details.

To restore factory defaults, press and hold the "reset" button on the back of the module for 6 seconds.
