Legrand radiant™ Wireless Remote Dimmer (LC2103) — Installation Instructions

Installation instructions for the Legrand radiant™ Dimmer, Wireless Remote (Catalog Number LC2103, Doc. #1507233) — a wireless remote dimmer designed for standard electrical boxes, part of the radiant RF Lighting Control system.

Overview

The LC2103 radiant Wireless Remote Dimmer is designed for installation in standard electrical boxes, though some installation methods vary slightly from traditional dimmer switches. If you're unsure of your abilities, seek the assistance of a qualified electrician. Made in China.

Cautions

• To reduce the risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not install this incandescent dimmer to control a receptacle, a fluorescent light or bulb, a motor-operated appliance, or a transformer-supplied appliance.
• Do NOT use with incandescent lamps whose power requirements exceed the maximum wattage of the dimmer.
• This dimmer requires a minimum load of 50W.
• Do NOT connect the dimmer to a power source other than 120VAC, 60Hz.

Warning

To prevent severe shock or electrocution, always disconnect power at the service panel before beginning work. Failure to connect the ground wire will result in an unsafe installation that could lead to personal injury.

Installation Steps

1. When replacing an existing device, label wires before disconnecting, then disconnect the old device.
2. Cut wires and strip insulation using the stripping guide on the back of the device. Use copper conductors only.
3. Connect the switch/dimmer ground wire to the bare ground wire in the electrical box or mud ring. Pre-fold ground wires into the back of the box. Tip: pre-fold all other wires into the wall box to make it easier to fit them when the device is connected.
4. Connect the new device as shown. Insert wires into terminals and tighten screws securely — do NOT over-tighten (torque to 10 in-lbs).
   • Single Load: connect the white wire to WHITE, and the black wire to HOT.
5. Carefully fold wires into the electrical box (or mud ring), and secure the device(s) into the box with the provided screws. Note: if installing multiple devices in the box, wire all devices before installing them into the box.
6. Do not pair different-size wires in the same terminal. If wires differ in gauge, use a wire nut to add a 6-inch pigtail of matching gauge to the smaller wire.
7. For screwless wall plate installation: install the back plate with the provided screws and snap the wall plate into place. For screw-type wall plates, simply screw the wall plate into place over the device.

Note: To remove a wall plate, insert a flat screwdriver in the notches on the back of the plate and twist gently. It's normal for the dimmer to feel warm during operation — protect dimmers from dirt and dust.

Setting the House ID

1. Ensure all new devices to be bound have a status LED of solid Amber (factory default condition).
2. Press and hold both buttons on one device for 2 seconds until its status LED flashes Amber, indicating it acquired a house ID. All other devices should flash Green, indicating they acquired the same house ID.
3. On the same device you started with (still flashing Amber), press and hold both buttons for 2 seconds until its status LED goes solid Green, indicating house binding was successful.

Groups (Wireless 3-Way/4-Way)

Creating a new group:

1. Ensure all potential group members' status LEDs are solid White.
2. Press and hold any dimmer/switch On button for 5 seconds and release — its status LED flashes Amber.
3. Repeat for all potential group members so their status LEDs also flash Amber.
4. Press and hold the initiator's On button for 5 seconds and release — the initiator and other devices' status LEDs flash Green for 2 seconds and turn solid White.

Adding/removing a device to/from a group:

1. Ensure all potential group members' status LEDs are White.
2. Press and hold any existing group dimmer/switch On button for 5 seconds and release — all current group members' LEDs flash Amber; non-group devices' LEDs flash Green.
3. Press and hold any device's On button for 5 seconds and release — its LED flashes Amber to join the group or Green to leave it.
4. Press and hold the initiator's On button for 5 seconds and release — status LEDs flash Green for 2 seconds then turn solid White.

Operation

Switch

• Press and release: toggles from On to Off or Off to On. Status LED is On when device is Off, and Off when device is On.

Dimmer

• Press and release On button: from Off to last level, or from On to Off at a 2-second ramp rate.
• Double tap On button: full On at a 1-second ramp rate.
• Press and hold Off button for 2 seconds, then release: from On, goes Off at a slow ramp rate (30 seconds for 100%); from Off, no action.
• Press and release Paddle (+): from Off to last level at a 2-second ramp; from On, increases level 2% per tap.
• Double tap Paddle (+): from Off to full On at a 1-second ramp; from On, increases level by 4%.
• Press and hold Paddle (+): increases level at a 5-second ramp rate.
• Press and release Paddle (−): from On, decreases level by 2% per tap; from Off, no action.
• Double tap Paddle (−): from On, decreases level by 4%; from Off, no action.
• Press and hold Paddle (−): decreases level at a 5-second ramp rate.

Fault Operation

• Status LED blinking Red 1x/second = No load
• Status LED blinking Red 2x/second = Over current
• Status LED blinking Red 3x/second = Short circuit

Factory Reset

Press and hold the On button for 20 seconds — the status LED goes to solid Amber, indicating the device is ready to be house-bound as part of a new or existing wireless lighting system.

Custom Settings

Switches

1. Ensure all device status LEDs are solid White.
2. Press and hold any switch's On button for 10 seconds and release — the initiator's status LED flashes Green or Red depending on the existing setting. Blink count indicates the current Custom Setting selection.
3. Press and release to change the Custom Setting selection. LED color indicates status: Green = Locator On, Red = Locator Off.
4. Press and hold the initiator's On button for >2 seconds and release to exit, or wait for a 60-second timeout.

Dimmers

1. Ensure all device status LEDs are solid White.
2. Press and hold any dimmer's On button for 10 seconds and release — the initiator's status LED flashes Green, with blink count indicating the current Custom Setting selection.
3. Press and release to change the selection. Dimmer level LEDs indicate the setting levels; change setting levels using the dimmer paddle.
4. Press and hold the initiator's On button for >2 seconds and release to exit, or wait for a 60-second timeout.

Custom Setting List

1. Locator Light On/Off (default: On)
2. Minimum Dimmer Light Level (default: 2%)
3. Maximum Dimmer Light Level (default: 100%)
4. Dimmer/Switch Mode (default: Dimmer)
5. Forward/Reverse Phase Dimmer Mode (default: Forward) — True Universal Dimmer only
6. No Load Indicator On/Off (default: On)
