    Installation instructions for the Legrand On-Q CM5002-xx Ball Camera Auto Day/Night, a "ball" style color security camera designed for single-gang box or low-voltage bracket mounting, connected to the associated 4 Port Camera Module over a single Category 5 cable.

    Overview

    The Ball Camera is available in White, Light Almond, or Brown finishes, each on a Titanium mounting plate when wall-mounted. Both wall and ceiling mounting hardware are included, and the camera is designed for indoor or outdoor use. It automatically switches between color (daytime) and black-and-white (low-light) modes. Camera feeds carry video, and optionally audio, if the homeowner purchases the CM1026 microphone kit.

    Installation

    Wiring

    1. Each camera requires a single Category 5 cable run from the camera location to the Camera Module, which is typically installed in a structured wiring enclosure.
    2. Terminate the Category 5 cable at each end with an RJ45 plug following the T568A wiring standard.

    Adjustment and Connections

    1. Run the terminated Category 5 cable from the enclosure through the supplied gasket and connect it to the RJ45 jack on the rear of the camera. The other end connects to the Camera Module in the enclosure in step 5 below.
    2. Place the supplied outdoor gasket against the back box (if applicable) and attach the camera assembly to the back box with the two supplied screws.
    3. Four screws on the camera assembly can be loosened to rotate the camera ball up to 90 degrees and tilt it up to 30 degrees. Once the desired mounting direction is set, tighten the four screws slowly in an "X" pattern until snug — these must be fully tightened to maintain a weather-tight seal in outdoor applications.
    4. Attach the wall or ceiling cover mounting plate to the camera assembly with the two additional screws provided, then snap the cover plate into place.
    5. At the enclosure, connect the camera's terminated Category 5 cable into one of the RJ-45 jacks on the 4 Port Camera Module.
    6. The 4 Port Camera Module routes the video signal to its corresponding Video RCA Output Jack. If the camera has the optional microphone board installed, the module also routes the audio signal to the corresponding Audio RCA Output Jack (directly above the video output jack).
    7. If both video and audio are to be monitored on an LCD Panel Display, connect the camera module's Audio/Video RCA Output jacks to the corresponding Audio/Video RCA Input jacks on the LCD Display Module.
    8. Output signals can also be routed to a modulator for viewing on a television, or to the On-Q IP Video Server for viewing over the internet or home network.
    9. Video-only feeds can be sequenced through a modulator using the Video Sequence RCA Jack on the camera module.
    10. Apply power to the 4 Port Camera Module and verify system functionality.

    Note: If audio monitoring is planned, attach the optional microphone PC board to the rear of the camera assembly (via its multi-pin header and two supplied screws) before performing steps 1–2 above. Ensure the microphone sound hole in the camera assembly, mounting plate, and cover plate all line up for proper sound detection.

    Application Example — Monitoring Multiple Cameras

    • Up to 4 camera feeds can be monitored from the same LCD Panel Display using the camera selection buttons on the display.
    • Video/audio feeds travel from each camera via a single Category 5 cable to the RJ-45 input jacks on the 4 Port Camera Module, which separates audio and video to their corresponding RCA output jacks.
    • Those output jacks jumper to the corresponding RCA input jacks on the LCD Display Module, which converts and combines the signals for viewing.
    • Up to 4 combined signals reach each display via a single Category 5 cable from the LCD Display Module.
    • Although the Camera Module has a combined sequencing video-only output port, the LCD Panel Display itself also supports sequenced viewing across any of its (up to four) inputs, video only.
