    Safety Warnings

    • Shock hazard: to prevent severe shock or electrocution, always disconnect power at the service panel before beginning work.
    • Ground wire: failure to connect the ground wire will result in an unsafe installation that could lead to personal injury.

    Cautions

    • To reduce the risk of overheating and possible damage to other equipment, do not install to control a receptacle, a fluorescent light or bulb, a motor-operated appliance, or a transformer-supplied appliance.
    • Do NOT use this dimmer with incandescent lamps whose power requirements exceed the dimmer's maximum wattage.
    • This dimmer does not have a minimum load rating.
    • Do NOT connect the dimmer to a power source other than 120VAC, 60 Hz.

    Installation Steps

    1. Prep the frame: remove spacers from the frame — since this device fills the frame completely, spacers are not needed. From the back of the frame, pinch the tabs on the spacer to release it.
    2. Cut wires: cut wires and strip insulation using the stripping guide on the back of the device. Use copper conductors only. When replacing an existing device, label wires before disconnecting, then disconnect the old device.
    3. Multi-gang installations: use pliers to break off the specified heat sink fins as shown in the PDF diagram, then de-rate the maximum load per the table below.
    4. Ground and mount the frame: connect the frame ground wire to the bare ground wire in the box. Fold ground wires into the back of the box. Mount the frame to the wall box with the screws provided — tighten just enough to hold the frame in place; do NOT over-tighten.
    5. Wire the device: insert wires into terminals and tighten screws securely — do NOT over-tighten (torque to 10 in-lbs). For a single load: connect white wire to WHITE, black wire to HOT, red wire to LOAD. If installing multiple devices in one box, wire all devices before installing them into the box. Warning: do not pair different-size wires in the same terminal — use a wire nut to add a 6" pigtail of matching gauge to the smaller wire if needed.
    6. Install into frame: carefully fold wires into the box, then snap the device(s) into the frame. To remove a device later, take the frame off the wall box, insert a flat screwdriver from the back of the frame, depress the tabs, and push the device forward.
    7. Attach wall plate: snap the wall plate to the frame. There are three click-stops for alignment: first click = flush fit, second click = device protrudes slightly, third click = device protrudes fully. To remove the wall plate later, insert a flat screwdriver into the notches on the back of the plate and twist gently.
    8. Notes: it is normal for the dimmer to feel warm during operation. Protect dimmers from dirt and dust.
