Juke Audio — Using Juke with Android

Guide for using the Juke audio distribution system with Android devices — finding Juke on your network, playing audio, and reserving a static IP address.

Finding Juke on Your Network

Once Juke is connected to your network, type its IP address into your browser to bring up Juke's interface. If you don't know Juke's IP address, download and use a free Android app called Fing, available in the app store on your phone/tablet.

1. Run Fing and tap "Scan for devices." This brings up a list of all devices on your network.
2. Scroll down until you find one labeled "jukeaudio," and note the IP address shown below it (e.g. 192.168.0.29). That's Juke's IP address.
3. Type that number into a browser to see Juke's interface.

Playing Audio to Juke on an Android

If you are a Spotify user (requires a paid plan), go to "EDIT SOURCES" in Juke's "ADMINISTRATOR SETTINGS" screen and change one or more sources from Airplay to Spotify. Once done, Juke will appear as an available device you can play to from Spotify.

If your Android device is running Android 10 or later, you can also download an app called AirMusic. A free trial is available; the app costs $4.49 at time of writing. With AirMusic, you can play from other apps (not just Spotify) to any of Juke's Airplay receivers. If you use both Spotify and other apps, you'll want to set some of Juke's sources to Spotify and some to Airplay so you have the option of doing both.

Reserving an IP Address for Juke

It's recommended to configure your router to always assign Juke the same IP address. This prevents the address from changing after a power outage — if it changes, the shortcut saved to your Android device will stop working and need to be updated.

The exact steps depend on your router, so check its manual. General approach:

1. Log into your router's admin interface.
2. Find the address reservation option, usually under a tab called "LAN Setup" (or similar).
3. Look for a function called "Address Reservation" (or similar), select ADD, and it should show a list of all devices on your network — often called the "Address Reservation Table."
4. Find Juke in the list, select it, and click Add. Note the assigned IP address (e.g. four numbers separated by periods, such as 192.168.1.7).

Once reserved, you no longer need to worry about the router changing Juke's address in the future.

Creating a Home Screen Shortcut on Android

On your Android device, type Juke's reserved IP address into your browser (e.g. Chrome) — the interface should come right up. To avoid re-entering this each time, create a shortcut on your Android home screen:

1. In Chrome, tap the three dots near the top right.
2. Select "Add to Home Screen" from the list of options.
3. Name the shortcut "Juke" and tap Add.
