    Full text manual (for reference)

Setup and usage guide for the Jasco/GE ZW3104 (model 28166) Plug-in Wireless Smart Dimmer — a Z-Wave certified plug-in dimmer for standard incandescent lighting or dimmable CFL/LED bulbs.

    Key Features

    • Remote ON/OFF and brightness control via a Z-Wave controller
    • Manual ON/OFF and brightness control with the front-panel push button
    • Space-efficient design — does not block the lower outlet when plugged into the upper outlet of a duplex wall receptacle (assuming the receptacle is mounted with the ground pin down)
    • Plug/cord routing to the side, allowing furniture to sit close to the outlet
    • Grounded 3-wire power connection for safety
    • Supports Lifeline (Association Group 1)
    • Advanced configuration options available via a Z-Wave controller that supports the Z-Wave configuration command class — see www.jascoproducts.com/z-waveconfig for the full list

    Maximum Load

    2.5A; 300W incandescent, or 100W dimmable CFL/LED.

    Setup

    1. Plug the light you want to control into the Z-Wave-controlled outlet on the smart dimmer, marked with the Z-Wave logo.
    2. Plug the smart dimmer directly into an available grounded outlet (top outlet of a duplex receptacle recommended if possible). Plug directly into the outlet — do not use an extension cord.

Note: Actual dimming performance varies by bulb type and manufacturer. Only bulbs designed as dimmable should be used with a dimmer — check the bulb package or contact the manufacturer to confirm. See www.jascoproducts.com/z-wave for a list of recommended CFL/LED bulbs.

    Using the Manual/Program Button

    • Single press and release: Manually turn the connected lamp ON or OFF.
    • Press and hold: Adjust brightness of the connected lighting — release the button at the desired level.
    • Single press (during network operations): Add or remove the dimmer from the Z-Wave network.

Adding the Device to a Z-Wave Network

    1. Follow your Z-Wave certified controller's instructions to include the smart dimmer.
    2. Once the controller is ready to include your dimmer, single-press and release the manual/program button on the dimmer to include it.
    3. Once your controller confirms inclusion, refresh the Z-Wave network to optimize performance. Refer to your controller/gateway manual for specific instructions.

Once included, you have complete control to turn the lamp ON/OFF or set dim levels according to groups, scenes, schedules, and interactive automations programmed by your controller. If your controller supports Remote Access, you can control your lighting from mobile devices too.

    Removing / Resetting the Device

    • To exclude: Follow your Z-Wave controller's instructions to exclude a device, then press and release the manual/program button on the dimmer when the controller is ready.
    • To return to factory defaults: Unplug the dimmer (if plugged in), then press and hold the top button for at least 3 seconds while plugging it back into a receptacle. Only use this if your network's primary controller is missing or inoperable.

    Z-Wave Interoperability

This product can be included and operated in any Z-Wave network alongside certified devices from other manufacturers and applications. All non-battery-operated nodes act as repeaters regardless of vendor, increasing network reliability.

    Safety Warnings

    • To reduce risk of electric shock, this product has a grounding-type plug with a third (grounding) pin. It will only fit a grounding-type outlet. If it doesn't fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet — never modify the plug.
    • Exercise extreme caution when using Z-Wave devices to control appliances — the controller may operate from a different room than the controlled appliance, and pressing the wrong button, or timed-event programming, may cause unintended/unattended activation. Do NOT use Z-Wave devices to control electric heaters or other appliances that could become hazardous if turned on unattended or automatically.
    • Never use Z-Wave-enabled devices to power or control medical or life-support equipment.
    • Risk of fire, electrical shock, and burns.
