Full user guide for the GE/Jasco 45601 Advanced Remote with LCD Display, a Z-Wave Certified handheld controller for wireless lighting, groups, scenes, events, and thermostats.
User guide for the GE/Jasco 45601 Advanced Remote with LCD Display โ a Z-Wave Certified handheld controller for wireless lighting control. This guide is translated from the original Spanish-language manual for the Home Controls Amazon listing.
The 45601 Advanced Remote lets you control up to 18 individual Z-Wave devices from one compact, easy-to-use unit. You can also configure and control up to 18 lighting groups and 18 lighting scenes for tasks or moods. Groups can include up to 232 Z-Wave devices; each scene can include up to 32 Z-Wave devices. Your home Z-Wave control network can include up to 232 Z-Wave compatible devices total.
If this remote is your primary controller, use it to build your control network. You can use multiple remotes on one Z-Wave lighting network, but only one can act as the primary controller โ the primary is required to add or remove devices/nodes. All other controllers are secondary: they can create groups/scenes and control lighting, but cannot add or remove devices from the network. This product can also operate on a Z-Wave network alongside certified devices from other manufacturers; non-battery nodes act as repeaters regardless of brand.
Requires three "AAA" alkaline batteries (not included).
To install: open the battery cover (rear of remote), match polarity (+/โ) to the compartment markings, insert batteries, and replace the cover.
This device meets the Z-Wave standard for direct antenna-to-antenna range in open space: 100 ft (30.48 m). Real-world performance depends on the number of walls between the remote and target device, construction type, and the number of Z-Wave devices on the network (each device acts as a signal repeater, creating more transmission paths and eliminating RF "dead zones").
| Walls/Obstacles | Wood Frame, Plastic Box | Wood Frame, Metal Box | Brick/Tile/Concrete, Plastic Box | Brick/Tile/Concrete, Metal Box |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 (line of sight) | 100' | 80' | 100' | 80' |
| 1 | 70' | 56' | 60' | 48' |
| 2 | 49' | 39' | 36' | 29' |
| 3 | 34' | 27' | 21' | 17' |
Note: Z-Wave networks are designed to coexist with 802.11 wireless, Bluetoothยฎ, and other 2.4/5.8 GHz devices. Some older 900 MHz baby monitors, wireless video devices, and cordless phones can cause interference โ many have a channel switch (A/B) to reduce it.
Lights must be Z-Wave compatible and added to your control network first. Two methods:
Hold SETUP โ LIGHT SETUP (scroll to GROUP or SCENE if renaming those) โ OK (ADD) โ scroll to LABEL โ OK (SEL DIGIT) โ select the item's digit โ use the ON/OFF #1 button to scroll through the alphabet/numbers, arrow buttons to move to the next character, repeating until the name is complete โ OK โ SUCCESS.
GE Z-Wave lighting devices are included in the ALL control by factory default; other brands may need to be added manually.
Hold SETUP โ LIGHT SETUP โ scroll to DATE/TIME โ OK. For time: OK again (TIME 12hr), then use buttons 1 (hour), 2 (minutes), 3 (AM/PM), then OK for SUCCESS. For date: scroll to DATE, OK (default 01/01/2007), buttons 1 (month), 2 (day), 3 (year), then OK for SUCCESS. For day: after TIME, press the right arrow twice to reach DAY, select with any arrow, then OK. DST/timezone settings are reserved for future use. Note: replacing batteries requires reprogramming date/time.
Requires date/time to be set first.
Random events: Choosing RANDOM (instead of continuing at step for EVENT TYPE) starts the event within ยฑ15 minutes of the scheduled time.
Disable an event: Follow the add steps, then scroll to DISABLED and press OK.
Delete an event: Hold SETUP โ LIGHT SETUP โ EVENTS โ OK (ADD) โ scroll to DELETE โ OK (SEL DIGIT) โ select the event โ OK โ SUCCESS.
Enable/disable ALL events at once: Hold SETUP โ LIGHT SETUP โ EVENTS โ scroll to ALL โ OK (shows ALL ON) โ press OK to confirm ALL ON, or press any arrow to switch to ALL OFF then OK to confirm.
Some Z-Wave devices offer advanced capabilities accessible only via a controller like the 45601 โ for example, the 45606 in-wall dimmer lets users set 3 different dimming rates depending on activation method (manual, standard Z-Wave dim command, or All-On/All-Off command), each configurable from 10ms to 4.2 minutes for full-to-minimum brightness transition. Check your specific Z-Wave device's manual for available parameters.
To change: Hold SETUP โ LIGHT SETUP โ scroll to ADV CONFIG โ OK (PARAM 0) โ scroll to the parameter number (1โ255, per device manual) โ OK (NUM BYTES) โ scroll to the correct byte count (1, 2, or 4) โ OK (CONFIG VAL) โ scroll to the value (0โ255) โ OK โ press the device's button โ SUCCESS.
You can transfer all 45601 information to another remote so it becomes the new primary (the original 45601 keeps its programming but becomes secondary): Hold SETUP โ LIGHT SETUP โ scroll to TRANSFER โ OK (PRIMARY) โ OK (ALL, or scroll to NTWK ONLY for network info only) โ put the destination remote in receive mode โ OK on the 45601 (SENDING) โ SUCCESS.
A Z-Wave network can integrate devices from multiple classes and manufacturers. While every Z-Wave certified product is designed to interoperate, your controller must support the relevant device class to control non-lighting devices. For example, the basic GE 45600 remote controls only lighting-class Z-Wave devices, while the deluxe GE 45601 LCD remote can also control other certified device types like thermostats.
