    Overview

    The EN4200 serial receiver is a security-only gateway that uses frequency-hopping, spread-spectrum technology to decode radio frequency (RF) transmissions from security end devices and high-power repeaters, outputting the decoded data to an application controller in a common serial data format.

    Step 1 – Select the Frequency Band

    EchoStream products must be configured for your geographic region:

    1. Use a small screwdriver to press the housing release tab and separate the housing.
    2. Place a selection jumper on the appropriate frequency band pins:
      • North America: leave the jumper off the pins (902–928 MHz)
      • Australia: jumper on the right two pins, marked "AUS" (915–928 MHz)
      • New Zealand: jumper on the left two pins, marked "NZ" (921–928 MHz)
    3. If the receiver is powered on, remove power to reset it after changing the jumper.

    Step 2 – Connect the Serial Cable

    Caution: avoid running long cable lengths adjacent to high-current power feeds; keep cables as short as possible to minimize noise pickup, and measure voltage at the receiver on long runs.

    • Connect a serial cable to either the serial data port or the serial data terminal.
    • Cable requirements: 4-conductor, 20 AWG (or larger) stranded-tinned copper with PVC insulation rated to 300V at 26°C/80°F (e.g., Belden #8205).
    • Maximum cable length: 100 feet (30.5 meters).
    • Route cabling through either the bottom or side cabling knockout.

    Step 3 – Mount the Serial Receiver

    Caution: mount away from metal objects (ductwork, wire mesh screens, boxes), which will reduce RF range.

    1. Use the provided anchors and screws to mount the receiver in an accessible location for future maintenance.
    2. Close the serial receiver housing.

    Serial Receiver Operation

    Caution: test the EchoStream system regularly — place it in test mode, activate an end device, and confirm the appropriate response.

    Status LEDs:

    • Transmit LED: lit when the receiver is transmitting data to the application controller.
    • Receive LED: lit when the receiver is receiving data from the application controller.
    • Decode LED: lit when the receiver is decoding an RF transmission from another Inovonics Wireless device.

    Warranty

    Inovonics Wireless Corporation warrants its products to conform to specifications and be free of defects in materials/workmanship under normal use for 36 months from the date of manufacture. Within the warranty period, Inovonics will repair or replace defective products at its option (Inovonics is not responsible for dismantling/reinstallation charges). To exercise the warranty, work through your authorized distributor to obtain a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number. The warranty is void in cases of improper installation, misuse, failure to follow instructions, alteration, accident, tampering, or repair by anyone other than Inovonics.
