    MonnitLink Ethernet Gateway Quick Start

    1. Create a Monnit user account with assigned wireless gateways and sensors.
    2. Plug an Ethernet cable with internet connectivity into the gateway.
    3. Plug the power supply into a power outlet, then connect it to the gateway.
    4. Once all three lights turn green, your network is ready to bring sensors online.

    1. Create a Monnit User Account and Setup Sensor Network

    1. Navigate to imonnit.com and click "Get Started Here" to create an account.
    2. Enter your account and contact information.
    3. Create your first sensor network by entering a name for it.
    4. Add the information from your MonnitLink gateway, then click "Assign Gateway".
    5. Add the information from your first Monnit wireless sensor, then click "Assign Sensor".
    6. Name the wireless sensor and select how you're using it from the drop-down (this lets the system suggest appropriate settings), then click "Continue".
    7. Set up sensor notifications: use pre-configured notification suggestions, or click "Create your own" to build a custom notification (which becomes available for any similar sensors added later). Set the parameters and click "Save".
    8. On the confirmation screen, assign additional sensors to your network or click "Done" to finish.

    Ethernet Gateway Lights

    Light Meaning
    Light 1 Ethernet cable connection. Green = ready/working; Red = problem.
    Light 2 Internet connectivity / reaching the online monitoring system. Green = ready; Red = problem; Flashing green = network traffic.
    Light 3 Sensor network activity. Green = ready; Red = problem; Flashing green = radio traffic from sensors.

    Ethernet Gateway Controls

    Back panel includes: Power Plug, Control Button, Ethernet Port, RP SMA Antenna Connector.

    • Short press the control button to immediately send all stored sensor messages to the online system and download pending system messages (default heartbeat is 5 minutes).
    • Press and hold to factory-reset the gateway (resets heartbeat to 5 minutes, both locally and in the online system — you'll need to log in again afterward to reconfigure).

    Note: If the gateway boots with lights scrolling left to right, it has accidentally entered boot loader mode. Make sure the button is unobstructed, then reboot by removing the power plug, waiting 10 seconds, and reinserting it.

    Configuring the Ethernet Gateway

    The gateway collects data from all sensors in range and batch-delivers messages to the online system every 5 minutes by default. It uses DHCP to auto-acquire a network address; a manual IP address, gateway mask, and DNS can be assigned via the online interface if needed. Advanced configuration guidance: monnit.com/pdf/Ethernet_Gateway_Configuration.pdf. This is not required in most cases. To adjust heartbeat/config: log in as administrator, go to "My Account", and use the edit icon next to your sensor network (also includes a quick link to reset gateway settings to factory defaults).

    3. Using Your Monnit Wireless Sensors

    Important: Keep sensors at least 3 ft. away from the Ethernet Gateway.

    1. Peel back the black sticker cover of the battery slot and slide in the coin cell battery, observing correct polarity. It powers on within 10–20 seconds.
    2. Once online, the sensor is ready to deploy. Configuration changes made in the software transmit to the sensor on its next heartbeat.
    3. For an immediate response, power-cycle the sensor by removing and re-inserting the battery.

    Notes: If the status indicator doesn't change, remove the battery, wait 60 seconds, then re-insert it. Push the battery all the way in using a paper clip if needed.

    Warning: Sensors ship with a 10-minute heartbeat. Unless using the AA battery solution, set the heartbeat to no faster than one hour to preserve battery life.

    Manual Sensor Reset Process

    1. Using a paper clip, push the battery out through the small hole in the top of the sensor.
    2. Change the sensor's heartbeat setting through the online system.
    3. Re-insert the battery.

    4. Using the iMonnit Online Wireless Sensor System

    Main Menu

    • Overview — all sensors in the account and their last readings
    • Notifications — manage sensor notifications and view sent notification history
    • Manage — manage networks, sensors, and gateways

    • Sensor Maps — visual maps for tracking sensor placement

    Sensor Status Indicators

    • Checking in, within user-defined safe parameters
    • Met or exceeded a user-defined threshold or triggered event
    • Hasn't checked in (inactivity alert sent)
    • No sensor readings since shipping
    • No sensor readings will be recorded (Inactive)

    Sensor Details View Tabs

    • Chart — graphical view of the sensor's data
    • Notifications — manage notifications for that sensor
    • History — text history of the sensor's data
    • Export — archive data as a .csv file
    • Edit — manage sensor settings
    • Calibrate — available for certain sensor types, for more accurate data

    Data shown on Chart, Notification, History, and Export tabs is based on the date range set in the upper right of the sensor detail view.

    Configuring Sensor Settings

    Click a sensor row to open Details, then the "Edit" tab. Mouse over the "?" icon next to any setting for an explanation. Click "Save" when done — changes download to the sensor on its next heartbeat, and the configuration can't be edited again until that download completes.

    Editing and Adding Notifications

    Manage notifications per-sensor (via the sensor's "Notifications" tab) or globally (via the main "Notifications" menu). Notification classes:

    • Application — sensor-type-specific (e.g. water sensor triggers on water present, temp sensor triggers above a threshold temperature)
    • Inactivity — alerts when sensors stop communicating with the servers (set this up, or you won't be notified of comms failures)
    • Low battery — alerts at a defined battery percentage
    • Advanced Notifications — rule-based, e.g. comparing past vs. current data points

    When creating/editing a notification: set "People to Notify" (type a name, or add a new recipient's contact info), set the Notification Parameters (name, message, trigger conditions), and Assigned Devices (which sensor(s) trigger it — application-specific notifications can only be assigned to matching sensor types; general notifications like battery status can be assigned to any/all sensors).

    Exporting Sensor Data

    From the "Export" tab: select a date range, choose scope (selected sensor / all sensors in network / all sensors on account), then click "Export Data" to download a .csv file. Only the first 2,500 records in the selected range are exported. You can also push sensor data to a third-party service in real time via "Configure data push" (encodes data into a URL query, sent via HTTP GET).

    Calibrating Sensor Data

    Certain sensor types (e.g. temperature) support calibration via the "Calibrate" tab: replace the last reading with the accurate reading and click "Calibrate." All future readings use the new calibration setting.

    Manage Sensor Networks

    Under the "Manage" menu, edit network details, create new sensor networks, add/remove devices, move devices between networks, or clear a sensor's history and data.

    Note: Clearing a sensor's data permanently deletes its history system-wide. Export data first if you want a record.

    Regulatory Notice

If interference to radio/TV reception occurs, try: reorienting/relocating the receiving antenna; increasing separation between equipment and receiver; connecting the equipment to a different circuit outlet; or consulting a dealer/technician.
