Specification sheet for the HID ProxPoint proximity card reader (GE Security part GEACURT4) — a compact, potted-electronics reader for indoor/outdoor access control installations.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Specification sheet for the HID ProxPoint™ Proximity Card Reader (GE Security part numbers 6005 Wiegand and 6008 Clock-and-Data). This compact, fully-potted reader mounts directly on metal and works with all standard access control systems.

    Overview

The ProxPoint reader is a small, unobtrusive proximity card reader designed for both indoor and outdoor use. All reader electronics are potted, making it weatherized and vandal-resistant. It's available in two interface types:

    • Wiegand interface (Base P/N 6005) — compatible with all existing Wiegand protocol access control systems
    • Clock-and-Data magnetic stripe interface (Base P/N 6008) — outputs card data in Track II format for easy upgrade of existing swipe-card systems without rewiring

    Key Features

    • Mounting: Designed to mount directly on metal with no change in read range performance
    • Visual indication: Multicolor LED — flashes green when a proximity card is presented
    • Diagnostics: Internal self-test on power-up verifies setup configuration; external loop-back test allows verification of reader inputs/outputs without additional test equipment
    • Indoor/outdoor design: Sealed in a rugged, weatherized polycarbonate enclosure (UL 94)
    • Security: Recognizes over 137 billion unique codes
