Specification and wiring sheet for the Heath Zenith SL-6107 Motion Activated Lighting Control switch.

    Full text manual (for reference)

Specification and wiring sheet for the Heath Zenith SL-6107 Motion Activated Lighting Control (model SL-6107-WH in white, SL-6107-IV in ivory) — a wall-switch replacement that turns lights on automatically when motion is detected.

    Overview

The SL-6107 fits a standard 2-3/4" depth junction box and replaces an existing switch (including 3-way configurations) to add motion-activated lighting control. A slide switch selects OFF, ON, or AUTO mode; when in AUTO, the built-in motion sensor and photocell turn the lights on automatically when motion is detected and ambient light is below the set threshold.

    Features

    • Slide switch selectable OFF, ON, and AUTO
    • Selectable on-time from 5 to 20 minutes
    • Adjustable photocell sensitivity
    • Works with motors up to 1/8 hp

    Suggested Applications

    • Bathroom
    • Bedroom
    • Hallway
    • Kitchen
    • Den / Living Room
    • Workshop

    Mode Selection Switch

    • OFF: Lights stay off.
    • AUTO: Lights automatically come on when motion is detected and the existing light level is below the set threshold.
    • ON: Lights stay on continuously.

    Timer

There are 6 preset selections for how long the lights stay on: Test (5 seconds), 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes. Turn the TIME control until it "snaps" into the desired position.

    Photocell Adjustment

Adjust the sensor's sensitivity to existing light. Turning the control fully clockwise causes the sensor to turn lights on even in full daylight; turning it fully counterclockwise causes the sensor to turn lights on only when existing light is very low.

    Wiring

WARNING: Turn power off at the circuit breaker before wiring.

The SL-6107 supports both single-switch and 3-way switch installations:

    • 1st in circuit (with an existing 3-way switch): Power source white/black wires connect at the junction box; a jumper wire creates the common connection; the SL-6107's black/red wires connect to the existing 3-way switch's brown/black wires; ground (green) connects to the box ground.
    • 2nd in circuit: Mirrors the same wiring pattern at the second switch location, with the SL-6107 unit again wired in via the common jumper and existing 3-way switch connections.

Refer to the printed wiring diagram in the original PDF for exact terminal-by-terminal color mapping if installing in a 3-way configuration — the sequence is: power source (white/black) → junction box → jumper wire (common) → existing 3-way switch (brown/red/black) → SL-6107 unit (black/red) → ground (green).
