The Omnistat2 is a precision digital thermostat controllable both locally and remotely, offering stand-alone operation, programmability, and communication with automation systems, utility control systems, and personal computers.

Controls

• Large graphical display — customizable multicolor backlit display shows everything needed to operate the system and monitor temperature/humidity.
• Proximity/motion sensor — the display lights up when approached, useful in the dark.
• Scroll wheel — turn to adjust temperature, navigate menus, and change values/settings. Press for the Main Menu and to confirm settings.
• Task buttons — press to select the task displayed above the respective button.
• Adjust display contrast: press and hold [FAN] while turning the Scroll Wheel.
• Adjust display color: press and hold [HOLD] while turning the Scroll Wheel.

Display (Advanced)

Shows: current indoor temperature, cool setting, heat setting, thermostat mode (Off/Heat/Cool/Auto/EM Heat), status indicators (1st/2nd stage heat/cool running), message bar (date/time, outdoor status, filter reminder, energy status/messages), hold setting, fan setting, relative humidity (RC-2000 only), and period indicator (Morn/Day/Eve/Night).

Filter Reminder

The thermostat logs heating/cooling runtime and displays "Change Filter" on the Message Bar when it's time to replace your filter. Press the Scroll Wheel twice to clear the reminder — don't forget to actually change the filter!

Display (Simplified)

Shows: current indoor temperature, thermostat mode (Heat/Cool, blank if Off), temperature setting for current mode (blank if Off), status indicators, and current time.

Changing Temperature Settings

Turn the Scroll Wheel to display the Temperature Settings Page (adjusts the current mode's setting first). Press [Heat] or [Cool] to switch which setting you're adjusting. Press the Scroll Wheel or [Ok] when complete.

Changing the Thermostat Mode

Press [MODE] to display the Mode Setting Page. Turn the Scroll Wheel to scroll through modes; press Scroll Wheel or [Select] to confirm; press [Cancel] to discard.

• Off — heating and cooling both off, ignore temperature setting changes.
• Heat — heating system maintains the desired heating setting.
• Cool — A/C maintains the desired cooling setting.
• Auto — automatically switches between heat and cool to maintain both settings.
• Emergency Heat (heat pumps with auxiliary heat) — turns off the heat pump and uses auxiliary heat. Use only if the heat pump is malfunctioning, since auxiliary heat costs more to operate.

Fan and Hold Settings

Fan

Press [FAN] to open the Fan Setting Page.

• Auto — fan runs only when the system calls for heating/cooling.
• On — fan runs continuously.
• Cycle — fan cycles on/off every 10 minutes to circulate air.

Hold

Press [HOLD] to open the Hold Setting Page. In Hold mode, the thermostat won't change desired settings via program schedule or remote system.

• Hold Off — responds normally to program schedule/remote changes.
• Hold On — ignores program schedule/remote changes.
• Hold Vacation — ignores program schedule/remote changes for a set duration; you're prompted for heat/cool settings and number of days (in half-day increments) to hold.

Setting the Time and Date

Press and hold [MODE] for 5 seconds. Turn the Scroll Wheel to set: hour, minutes, AM/PM, month, day, year — pressing Scroll Wheel or [Next] between each. Press [Ok] to save, or [Cancel] to discard.

Modifying the Program Schedule

The thermostat comes preprogrammed with energy-saving settings. It can be programmed with up to 4 temperature changes per day, with different times/settings for every day of the week. A single day's schedule can be copied to other days (useful for matching weekday schedules).

The 4 daily periods:

• Morning — when you typically wake up; settings remain until you leave for the day.
• Day — when you leave home; settings remain until you return in the evening.
• Evening — when you return home; settings remain until bedtime.
• Night — when you go to bed; settings remain until the next morning.

To modify: press the Scroll Wheel to open the Main Menu, select "Program," choose a day of the week, then adjust each period's start time (in 15-minute increments — to disable a period, set it and the next period to the same time), heat setting, and cool setting. Press [Ok] to save for that day, or [Copy] to save and copy the schedule to other selected days of the week. Press [Cancel] at any point to discard changes.

Changing the Humidity Setting (RC-2000 only)

Press the Scroll Wheel to open the Main Menu, highlight "Humidity," press Scroll Wheel or [Select]. Turn the Scroll Wheel to adjust the humidify/dehumidify setpoints; press Scroll Wheel or [Next] to switch between them. Press [Ok] then [Back] to save and return home, or [Cancel] twice to discard.

Runtime Graph

From the Main Menu, select "Runtime Graph" to view a bar graph of air conditioning and heating system runtime hours for the current week and the previous three weeks (Weeks 0-3).

Compliance

This thermostat has been tested and found to comply with EU requirements for Electromagnetic Interference, Electromagnetic Immunity, and Safety under applicable EMI and Low Voltage Directives, as well as FCC Part 15 Class B digital device limits. It generates and can radiate radio frequency energy but is unlikely to interfere with radio/TV due to its low-power design; if interference is suspected, try reorienting the receiver's antenna, moving the receiver away from the product, or consulting an experienced technician.
