Hi-Fi2 by HAI powers speakers through efficient digital amplification, letting you listen to and share music from a stereo, iPod™, satellite radio, cable TV, computer, CD player, or any other audio source in any room of your home. Its modular design allows expansion as your needs change, and it can plug and play with HAI Omni and Lumina home control systems for integrated party/activity control from an OmniTouch touchscreen.
Each of the eight audio sources connects to a Remote Input Module (RIM) in the room with that source. Plugging a source into a RIM via a standard stereo input jack makes it available to any room with a Volume-Source Control (VSC). Each RIM also includes a routed IR emitter jack (with flasher) so a source's own remote control can work from any VSC-equipped room.
The VSC lets you change power state, volume, balance, treble, bass, and loudness per zone, and view metadata (album/artist/track) plus basic transport controls (play, pause, next, previous) for supported sources. An IR receiver on each VSC lets you control Hi-Fi2 and connected sources remotely from any zone.

Navigate with src (next item), Power (previous item), and +/– to adjust. If idle for 20 seconds the menu closes automatically; you can also exit by holding src for 2 seconds.

Point the IR remote at the VSC for the target zone: 1 Power (zone on/off), 2 Mute, 3 Previous track, 4 Next track, 5 Play/Pause, 6 Source cycle, 7 Volume Down, 8 Volume Up. Locally processed IR commands (mute, volume, source change, power) are handled by the Hi-Fi2 processor and also routed on to the connected source equipment.
Plug any source into a Remote Input Module (RIM) using a standard stereo input jack — it becomes available to any room with a VSC. For RCA-output gear, use the HAI 3.5mm-to-2xRCA patch cable (P/N 62A14-1). For 3.5mm-output gear (like an MP3 player), use the HAI 3.5mm-to-3.5mm patch cable (P/N 62A13-1). Each RIM ships with an IR flasher (P/N 62A08-1) for sending remote-control IR back to the source.
Hi-Fi2 can broadcast an announcement (e.g., doorbell or phone ringing) over every zone by using Source 8 as the paging input. When a page starts, all zones turn on at the configured Page Volume and switch to Source 8; when the page ends, zones revert to their previous source, power state, and volume. To use Paging purely as a whole-house mute instead of an announcement, set each zone's Page Volume to "0".
An installer can configure Zone Grouping so two or more zones share the same source, volume, and/or power state — useful for open-plan spaces like a connected kitchen and family room. Changing any grouped setting from any VSC in the group updates the whole group. Contact your installer for details on configuring groups.
Extended exposure to noise above OSHA's permissible levels (90dB for 8 hrs, up to 103dB for 1 hr) can cause hearing loss. This product should not be used near water, and all standard electrical safety precautions (grounding, ventilation, avoiding heat sources) apply — refer to the full safety instructions before installation.
