    Installation and Startup manual for the GE Security NetworX™ NX-507E Seven Relay Expander and NX-508E Eight Output Expander — auxiliary modules that expand the capabilities of NetworX security control panels for access control, home automation, wireless interfaces, and security functions.

    General Description

    • NX-507E Seven Relay Expander: microprocessor-controlled 7-relay module with separate normally-open and normally-closed contacts for each relay, plus 1 low-current trigger output (Output 8). Up to 8 modules per NetworX panel. Each relay follows up to 8 programmable schedules for on-time activation or time-zone behavior. Optional tamper switch and auxiliary power terminal make it suitable for remote locations. Note: access control and home automation uses have not been UL-verified.
    • NX-508E Eight Output Expander: microprocessor-controlled 8-output module with 8 low-current trigger outputs; up to 8 modules can be added for a total of 64 outputs. Each output follows up to 8 schedules. Has a built-in parallel interface for local printouts of communicator activity. The NX-508E is NOT listed for UL Commercial Fire.

    Wiring Information

    For UL Commercial Fire systems, 18 AWG wire must be used, and the NX-507E must be mounted inside the control panel's own enclosure. Maximum wire run varies by wire gauge and by whether the module is connected directly to the NetworX control panel or to an NX-320E supply, and whether the AUX terminal is used:

    Terminal Descriptions (Both Modules)

    • DATA: data-signaling terminal to all devices on the bus — connects to the control panel's DATA terminal.
    • COM: connects to the control panel's COMMON terminal; supplies the common side of board power.
    • POS: connects to the control panel's AUX POWER + terminal; supplies board power.
    • TAM: optional tamper terminal — connect a normally-closed tamper switch between TAM and COM, or jumper them if unused.
    • AUX: supplies up to 100 mA, fused separately from the control panel's power, isolating remote-device power from the main control. If a short occurs past AUX, only devices past that terminal lose power; the expander itself keeps operating and reports an "expander power trouble" on the keypad.
    • NX-507E Relay terminals (1–7): each relay has NC / COM / NO dry contacts rated 1A at 30VDC/30V. Output 8: open-collector output switching to GND when activated, up to 100 mA (must see a 13V-to-GND transition; use Part #8915 to interface).
    • NX-508E Out 1–8: open-collector outputs switching to GND when activated, up to 100 mA each. Requires the enclosed resistors connected between AUX and the output in use.

    Installing the Modules

    Set the module's bus address using the onboard DIP switches (addresses 24–31), per the address table in the manual. DIP switch 4 disables the tamper feature (On = enabled, Off = disabled).

    Enrolling the Modules

    NetworX panels automatically find and store all keypads, zone expanders, wireless receivers, and output modules in memory once Program Mode is exited. The enrolling process takes about 12 seconds (Service LED illuminates; user codes are not accepted during enrollment). If an enrolled module later goes undetected, the Service LED illuminates to flag it.

    Programming the Modules

    Enter Program Mode ([Á]-[8], then the installer "Go To Program" code — default 9-7-1-3). Enter the module's address followed by [#], then the desired programming location followed by [#]. Binary/numerical data is entered per segment, followed by [Á] to advance; [#] exits the location. Programming data is either numerical (0–255 or 0–15 depending on segment size) or feature-selection (on/off per bit).

    Key Programming Locations (Sample)

    • Location 0 (Event/Zone/Time for Output 1): 3 numerical segments selecting the triggering event, the zone/user number, and how long the output stays active. Over 50 selectable events are available (Burglary Alarm, Fire Alarm, Zone Trouble, Armed/Not Armed, AC Failure, Duress, Keypad Panic, Line Seizure, Follow X-10 Command, Armed Stay/Away, etc.).
    • Location 1 (Special Functions & Partitions): binary segments controlling whether the output times in minutes vs. seconds, latches until a code is entered, resets on code entry, only triggers during open/closed schedules, is inverted, or logs to the event buffer — plus which of up to 8 partitions the event applies to.
    • Location 2 (Enable Schedules): enables any/all of 8 programmable schedules per output, for time/day-based activation windows.
    • Additional programming locations (documented in the full manual) cover output selection for individual user codes 1–255+ across all 8 outputs, for advanced access-control-style configurations.

    Mounting

    The module mounts using two PCB guides: position the first guide (grooved edge down) in the upper insertion point and screw it in; position the second guide (grooved edge up) in the lower insertion point and screw it in. The PC board should then slide freely in both guides' grooves.
