User manual for the FortrezZ MIMO2+ — a Z-Wave Plus multiple input/multiple output module bridging wired sensors and dry-contact loads into a Z-Wave network.
User manual for the FortrezZ MIMO2+ (Multiple Input – Multiple Output) Module — a Z-Wave Plus-enabled interface/bridge module with two voltage inputs and two dry-contact relay outputs, for bridging existing wired sensors and low-voltage controls into a Z-Wave network.
The MIMO2+ is an interface/bridge module with two voltage inputs and two dry contact relays. It is a Security Enabled Z-Wave Plus™ wireless device compatible with other Z-Wave certified products, letting you bring existing wired sensors (temperature probes, float switches, reed switches, doorbell buttons, security zones) or actuate loads (motorized gates/garage doors, shades, solenoids) into a Z-Wave automation system.
The MIMO2+ provides two voltage inputs (SIG1, SIG2) and two relay outputs (REL1, REL2, each wireable normally-open or normally-closed). Z-Wave messages read the inputs and control the outputs. Inputs support configurable trigger conditions and can even be mapped directly to control the outputs. A button on the module handles Z-Wave inclusion/exclusion, and an LED provides status indications.
Inclusion/exclusion always happens at normal transmit power. The unit can operate in any Z-Wave network with certified devices from any manufacturer, and non-battery nodes act as repeaters regardless of vendor.
| Fast Blinks | Slow Blinks | Periodic? | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | – | Yes | Network-Wide Inclusion Mode (auto-entered at power-up when not in-network) |
| 2 | – | No | MIMO2+ is in-network |
| 4 | – | Yes | Not in-network (after button press during NWI mode without inclusion, or 30s timeout) |
| – | 3 | Yes | Waiting for OTA firmware update |
A periodic Power Dropout blink appears if supplied power drops below ~11.5V. The unit sends an Alarm/Notification Command Class "power dropout" report (enabled by default, sent to Node 01) and a "power applied" report when power rises above ~12V.
A security-enabled controller is required for full functionality. Older or "simple" Z-Wave controllers that don't support the MultiChannel Command Class can still use the MIMO2+, but only Endpoint 1 (SIG1, queried via Multilevel Sensor) and Endpoint 3 (Relay 1, via Basic/Binary Switch) — Endpoints 2 (SIG2) and 4 (REL2) aren't accessible. "Smart" controllers supporting Multi-Channel Command Class messages get full functionality across all 4 endpoints (SIG1=Endpoint 1, SIG2=Endpoint 2, Relay1=Endpoint 3, Relay2=Endpoint 4).
SIG1/SIG2 default trigger simulates a digital threshold around 1.6V (falling/reset) and 2V (rising/trigger) — fully configurable via the Configuration Command Class. Input-to-Relay Mapping lets the module automatically turn a relay on/off based on input triggers (Configuration Command Class Parameters 1 and 2); when enabled, Z-Wave commands to set/clear that relay are ignored. Both relays default to momentary mode with a 500msec latch time, also configurable via Parameters 1 and 2. A Basic Set/Binary Switch command with valid on/off sets or clears REL1 only; Multichannel-encapsulated commands can address either REL1 (Endpoint 3) or REL2 (Endpoint 4).
