Product specification sheet for the Foard Systems FSD X10/UPB/FGI Bridge Controller Plus, a multi-protocol home automation bridge with expanded device mapping capacity.

    Overview

The FSD X10/UPB/FGI Bridge Controller Plus provides a flexible way to support a multi-protocol home automation installation, bridging X10 (including extended manufacturer-specific commands), UPB, and hardwired devices via the FGI interface. It can run stand-alone to integrate a mixed X10/UPB install, or alongside a legacy X10 controller.

Commands can be mapped freely across protocols — e.g. an X10 switch or a low-voltage hardwired switch can send a UPB link command, and a UPB command can control an X10 device, X10 scene, or hardwired relay. With a legacy X10 controller, UPB and FGI commands can be mapped to X10 commands sent to that legacy controller via its TW523 or PL513 interface.

The Plus model adds a flexible macro programming capability, interval timer, and time-of-day timer support (vs. interval timer only on the standard bridge).

    Software & Configuration

Configuration is done via included software running on Windows XP or Windows 2000; the computer does not need to stay connected during normal operation. If it remains connected, the FSD Automator software suite provides run-time monitoring/control through a graphical floor-plan interface (with a built-in graphical editor), plus data logging of device state, X10/UPB commands, and timer/macro states — useful for applications like temperature/humidity logging.

Remote monitoring, control, and configuration are supported natively over LAN, wireless LAN, or the Internet. Third-party integration is supported via an easy-to-use interface app or a documented packet-based monitoring/control interface (serial port USB driver, or TCP/IP via an included PC-hosted TCP/IP-to-serial packet router). The same packet-based interface approach works consistently across X10, UPB, and hardwired devices.

The Bridge Controller Plus supports up to 672 one-way associated device mappings (336 two-way mappings) — double the capacity of the standard FSD Bridge Controller — depending on device type.
