    Operating manual for the FIBARO Wall Plug (Type B) with USB charger, model FGWPB-121 — a Z-Wave Plus smart plug with power/energy metering, a status LED frame, and a USB charging port.

    Safety

    Read this manual before installing the device. For indoor, dry-location use only — do not use in damp or wet locations, near a bathtub, sink, shower, or pool. To avoid electrical shock, never operate the device with wet or moist hands. Not a toy — keep away from children and animals.

    Description & Features

    The FIBARO Wall Plug is a remotely controlled plug-in switch that measures power and energy consumption for whatever's plugged into it, plus its built-in USB charging port. A multi-color LED frame visualizes the current load and operating mode.

    • Compatible with Type B sockets/plugs and any Z-Wave or Z-Wave Plus controller
    • Supports Z-Wave Security Modes S0 (AES-128) and S2 (PRNG-based encryption)
    • Extremely easy install — just plug into the mains socket
    • Built-in USB charging port with its own power metering
    • Acts as a Z-Wave signal repeater
    • Active power & energy metering for both the plugged device and the USB port

    Basic Activation

    1. Plug the device into a socket near the main Z-Wave controller
    2. Set the controller to (Security/non-Security) add mode
    3. Triple-click the button on the casing
    4. Wait for the device to be added — confirmed by the controller
    5. Plug the device you want to control into the Wall Plug
    6. Test with the button (turn on/off)

    LED color at power-up indicates network status: Green = already added to a Z-Wave network; Red = not added.

    Adding & Removing the Device

    Adding (Inclusion): Plug in near the controller (red LED = not added), set the controller to add mode, triple-click the button. If adding in S2 authenticated mode, enter the device PIN code (the underlined part of the public key on the device/manual). Success is confirmed by the controller's message.

    Removing (Exclusion): Plug in (green LED = currently added), set the controller to remove mode, triple-click the button. Removing restores all default parameters.

    Operating the Device

    Button actions: 1 click = turn controlled device ON/OFF (or confirm a menu selection); 3 clicks = add/remove from Z-Wave network; hold = enter/navigate the menu.

    LED frame indications:

    • Active power consumption — color varies by current power draw when ON
    • Z-Wave inclusion status at power-up — green (added) / red (not added)
    • Z-Wave network range (in range-tester mode only)
    • Current menu position — color-coded
    • Software update in progress — cyan blinking
    • Hardware fault — unplug and re-plug the device

    Using the menu: Press and hold the button; wait for the LED to show the desired position (Green = erase energy memory, Violet = Z-Wave range test, Yellow = device reset); release the button; click to confirm.

    Disabling the LED frame: Plug in, hold the button ~3 seconds, release once the LED starts pulsing white. Repeat to restore. Note: disabling the LED also disables alarm signaling via LED.

    Factory reset: Hold the button until the LED glows yellow (3rd menu position), release, click once to confirm. The device restarts with factory defaults (signaled by red LED). Not the recommended way to remove from a network — use only if the primary controller is missing/inoperable.

    Power & Energy Consumption

    The Wall Plug measures active power and energy consumption with micro-controller precision (±1% for loads over 5W), reporting per parameters 11–15. For loads under 5W, power is reported for every 0.2W change; the USB port doesn't report loads under 0.4W. Active power is measured in Watts (W); energy consumed over time is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh).

    Resetting consumption memory: Hold the button, release when the LED glows green (1st menu position), then briefly press the button again. (Power cycling or unplugging does NOT erase consumption data.)

    Association Groups

    1st – Lifeline Reports device status (root, endpoint 1 & 2); single device only, reserved for the controller
    2nd – On/Off (Button) Devices switch ON/OFF when relay state changes via the button (Basic command class). Sent only for manual button operation.
    3rd – On/Off (Plug power) Devices switch ON/OFF automatically based on the plugged device's current load, per parameters 21–27.

    Groups 2 & 3 support up to 5 regular/multichannel devices each; Lifeline supports 1. To add: open device options → Advanced tab → "Setting Association" → choose group and devices → save.

    Z-Wave Range Test

    The device includes a built-in controller range tester (device must already be added to the network; use sparingly as testing stresses the network). Hold the button until LED glows violet (2nd menu position), release, click to confirm; the LED then indicates range status. Press briefly to exit.

    Z-Wave Specification

    Endpoint 1 (main socket): GENERIC_TYPE_SWITCH_BINARY / SPECIFIC_TYPE_POWER_SWITCH_BINARY — turns the connected device on/off and measures its power/energy. Endpoint 2 (USB port): GENERIC_TYPE_METER / SPECIFIC_TYPE_SIMPLE_METER — measures USB power/energy.

    Supported Command Classes: ZWAVEPLUS_INFO, SWITCH_BINARY, ASSOCIATION, MULTI_CHANNEL_ASSOCIATION, ASSOCIATION_GRP_INFO, TRANSPORT_SERVICE, VERSION, MANUFACTURER_SPECIFIC, DEVICE_RESET_LOCALLY, POWERLEVEL, SECURITY, SECURITY_2, SUPERVISION, METER, APPLICATION_STATUS, CONFIGURATION, CRC_16_ENCAP, NOTIFICATION, PROTECTION, FIRMWARE_UPDATE_MD, MULTI_CHANNEL, BASIC (most secured).

    Notification events: Power Management — Over-load detected (0x08), Over-current detected (0x06); System — Hardware Failure with Device overheat parameter.

    Protection CC: Local protection can disable button control while leaving menu access; RF protection can reject BASIC/SWITCH_BINARY commands while other command classes still function.

    Meter CC: Reports Electric kWh (Import, precision 2, size 4) and Electric W (Import, precision 1, size 2) for root, endpoint 1, and endpoint 2.

    Key Advanced Parameters

    #2 Restore state after power failure 0=stay off, 1=restore previous state. Default 1.
    #3 Overload safety switch 0=inactive, or 10–18000 (1.0–1800.0W) power threshold to auto shut-off. Default 0.
    #11 Power reporting threshold 0=off, or 1–100% change to trigger a report. Default 15%.
    #12 Energy reporting threshold 0=off, or 1–500 (0.01–5kWh). Default 0.1kWh.
    #13 Periodic power reporting 0=off, or 30–32400 sec. Default 3600s (1hr).
    #14 Periodic energy reporting 0=off, or 30–32400 sec. Default 3600s (1hr).
