Spec sheet for the Foard Systems FSD X10/UPB Compact Bridge, a two-protocol home automation bridge controller.
The FSD X10/UPB Compact Bridge provides a flexible, inexpensive way to support a two-protocol home automation installation, bridging X10 (with extended command capability, including manufacturer variations) and UPB devices.
The compact bridge controller can be used stand-alone to integrate devices in a mixed X10 and UPB installation, or alongside a legacy X10 controller. Input and output commands to/from X10, UPB, and FGI devices can be mapped across protocols — for example, an X10 switch or hardwired low-voltage switch could send a UPB link command to control UPB devices, and a UPB command could control an X10 device, X10 scene, or hardwired relay. When used with a legacy X10 controller, UPB and FGI device commands can be mapped to X10 commands sent to the legacy controller via its TW523 or PL513 X10 interface.
The bridge also includes flexible macro programming and interval timer support.
Provided software runs on a Windows XP or Windows 2000 computer to configure the bridge. The computer loads configuration data via the UPB serial port and does not need to remain connected during operation.
Device and operation configuration uses the same methodology as larger bridges/controllers in the FSD product line. Data configured for the compact bridge is upward-compatible and can be loaded into a full FSD X10/UPB/FGI Bridge if greater capacity, additional software features, or hardware device support is needed later.
