Flic Hub LR — User Manual

User manual for the Flic Hub LR — a Bluetooth smart hub that pairs with Flic buttons to trigger actions, control HomeKit accessories, and drive IR-controlled devices, without needing a phone present after initial setup.

Getting Started — What You Need

• An active internet connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi)
• A phone with the Flic App installed (only needed during setup)
• A Flic button within Bluetooth range of the Flic Hub LR

Powering On

Connect the included Micro-USB cable and a power adapter (1A output or greater recommended — lower current may cause unstable behavior) to the Flic Hub. The LED glows bright red on power-up; after ~15 seconds it dims and becomes discoverable. Follow the in-app instructions to complete initial setup.

Internet Connection

Connect via the Flic App's Wi-Fi setup steps (dual-band 2.4GHz/5.0GHz 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), or simply plug in an Ethernet cable. Without an active internet connection, some features won't be available. To verify connectivity, open the Flic Hub settings page in the app, find the network settings section, and press Test.

Pairing a Flic Button

Tap the '+' button in the bottom-right corner of the Flic Hub app page, then press the Flic button — pairing takes a few seconds. If the Flic was previously paired to another device, remove it there first (open that Flic's app page, tap the gear icon, choose Remove) before pairing it here.

IR Accessory Setup

Connect the Flic IR Accessory to the Hub's 2.5mm IR port and aim the blaster at the receiving device(s) — effective range is ~10m, with best results when there's a clear line of sight. In the Flic Hub app, select the IR blaster action and follow the prompts to record IR signals from any of your existing remotes.

Mounting: the IR Accessory uses the same reusable adhesive as Flic buttons. Once actions are set up, peel the label and secure the blaster wherever it can see all target devices. If the adhesive loses stickiness, remove it, rinse with water, rub and rinse again, then air-dry to restore tackiness — avoid solvents, chemicals, or abrasive cleaners.

Audio Feedback

Connect any speaker to the Flic Hub's 3.5mm audio jack to get audible feedback confirming a Flic press was registered.

Apple HomeKit Integration

The Flic Hub can forward button presses to HomeKit, configured per-Flic (a HomeKit-configured Flic can't also run other Flic actions). Requirements: active internet on both the Hub and an iOS device, the Flic app on that device, an already-paired Flic, and a HomePod/Apple TV/iPad set up as a home hub.

1. In the Flic app, select the Flic you want to add to HomeKit and toggle "Add to HomeKit" on.
2. The first time, you'll be prompted to pair the Flic Hub itself with HomeKit — follow the in-app steps.
3. Complete remaining setup in Apple's Home app.

Subsequent Flics only need the toggle switched on — they're shared with HomeKit automatically.

Factory Reset

Press and hold the pinhole reset button for 10-15 seconds. This clears all account settings and returns the Hub to default. After a factory reset (or when removing/reconnecting to your account), you'll be prompted for the Factory Password printed on the label on the underside of the Hub. If you set your own password during initial setup and forget it, a factory reset is the only way back in.

Safety Guidelines

• The Flic Hub and Flic buttons contain small parts — a choking hazard; not suitable for children or pets.
• Do not attempt to service the product yourself.
• Operating temperature range: -20°C to +54°C.
• Clean with a damp cloth only — never submerge, and avoid chemical or abrasive cleaners.
• Flic buttons are not waterproof; submersion causes irreversible damage not covered by warranty.

Warranty

Shortcut Labs AB warrants Flic hardware against defects in materials and workmanship for 24 months from the date of delivery to the original retail purchaser. At its option, Shortcut Labs will repair, replace, or refund the defective product. Does not cover products from unauthorized resellers, misuse, accident, modification, or moisture damage. Battery wear is considered normal and is not covered.
